Dear Ricky,
Some people enter an experience and immediately give themselves to it.
They are excited about everything. They want to see everything, do everything, feel everything.
And then there was you.
You came into this house almost like you were waiting to see whether it was worth being impressed by. 😂
You never seemed particularly interested in pretending that every little thing was the greatest thing that had ever happened to you. Biggie could make an announcement and you would listen. Something dramatic could happen and you would observe. Everybody could be losing their minds over something and somehow, Ricky would still be Ricky.
Calm.
Unbothered.
Sometimes completely unimpressed.
And honestly, I think that was part of your charm.
Because underneath all that nonchalance was someone who was actually experiencing the house in his own way.
You just didn’t perform it for us.
You didn’t need every moment to be loud for it to matter to you.
You didn’t need to turn every feeling into a conversation.
And perhaps that is why your journey was one of those journeys that you had to watch closely.
There were things you didn’t seem excited about.
Things you didn’t understand.
Things you simply looked at and went, “Okay.”
And there were moments when I wondered if you even wanted to be there. 😂
I also think there was something refreshing about the fact that you never seemed desperate to convince anybody that you were something you weren’t.
You didn’t need to be the loudest.
You didn’t need to have an opinion on everything.
You didn’t need to force connections.
You simply existed as yourself and allowed people to figure you out.
The guy who could surprise you when you least expected it.
The guy who could be so calm that you wondered if you were the only person who understood the gravity of what was happening.
But that was you.
And I think, Ricky, that is what I will remember.
Not whether you were impressed by every twist and turn.
Not whether you reacted the way we expected.
But the fact that you were yourself in a house that constantly demanded performance.
You reminded us that not everybody experiences things loudly.
Some people feel deeply and simply don’t announce it.
Some people take their time.
Some people need to observe before they participate.
