Dadddd! I’m not five. I won’t stay up all night, I promise.”
She said once they had reached her room. She laid down on her favorite side, and was already yawning. The twins always made her tired.
He walked with her to the room, smiling as he saw his twins were fast asleep already.
He laid in her bed and grabbed the book that’s her favorite.
“Only if you promise to sleep good, no getting up late at night to play.”
Pokes her nose, then opens the book.
She held on to him, for a moment longer, until he let her go.
“Your hugs are the best too. They make me feel safe.”
She said and nodded her head at him.
“Can you read me a book? And lay with me, until I fall asleep?”
He smiles as he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her to his chest tight.
“I love you, thank you for the best hugs in the world.”
Gives her a squeeze or two in the hug then lets go.
“You get rest too princess, I don’t want you staying up all night.”
@SleuthDvtective She’s hugging him extra tightly. “I love your hugs too, Daddy. And you look like you need one. And a kiss.” She kissed his cheek as well.
—Shane Hollander on the cover!! Her dad had almost said no, because it was a GQ magazine. But he finally gave in! So she went to look at the pictures and article written about him.
“Okay, Daddy. I will be a good girl, I’m just sitting here, I promise.”
It felt good to hear that other people were scared of Voight as well. She watched her daddy leave to his meeting. She grabbed her backpack, and took out the magazine she had him buy her. It had the handsome—
—in front of her.
“I’ll be busy in a meeting, but let me know if you get hungry okay?I packed you some snacks but I don’t want you eating it all in one sitting.
We will be here for awhile,I’ll take you to get lunch later when it’s break time. Stay out of Voights office. Okay?”
@SleuthDvtective —and started to sob, because it hurt her so much to not have a mom. To be told those hurtful things.
“And she made fun of my hair. You made me a cute ponytail. But she made fun of it.”
Yesterday had been a bit of a hard day for Charlie. It was Mother’s Day. The worst holiday in the world!
At least when you’re abandoned at a young age, that’s how it feels. It felt like everywhere it was Mother’s Day this, Mother’s Day that. Ugh!! Her favorite is Father’s Day.—
@SleuthDvtective —too. That I was an annoying child. That I would end up in an orphanage. She called your cookies disgusting. Which they are not. I hate Mother’s Day! I hate it! And she said it was my fault people always leave. It hurt, Daddy. It hurt because I don’t have a mom.”
She said—
—Charlie had always felt so lucky to come to her daddy’s work. All his team mates were family.
“Even Voight is very nice to me. But he’s still a little scary.”
“I like coming to your work place, Daddy. It’s always so cool to be at your desk! And everyone is so nice to me. Specially Trudy! I like her a lot. And of course Uncle Ruz, and Kevin too. I love that Aunty Kim put my hair in braids! And Hailey brought me some snacks too!”—
“Well, you don’t have to tell them I gave you lucky charms. You’re here at work with me anyways. They’re with her. Do you like being at my desk? I brought you crayons and a coloring book.”
