In the wake of @hasanminhaj’s ill-informed comments about DOs on the Tonight Show, seems like a good time to ask:
In the year 2021, does insisting upon a ‘separate but equal’ licensing examination help or hurt DOs? Do we still need the NBOME?
I say no.

In the year 2021 - when MDs and DOs are rightly regarded as equivalent - do we still need the COMLEX-USA?
My answer in this podcast
(Hint: it’s a two-letter answer)
It’s hilarious to me the the @NBOME is asking medical students to cite “peer reviewed studies and expert consensus manuscripts” in order to support contrarian survey opinions about abolishing the PE exam for good .....firstly,
Hey #MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter , remember last year when the NBME offered free practice tests during the pandemic, and the @NBOME created that useless thing called "Catalyst" and charged for it? They at it again folks! DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE.
@_j_o_r_d_y__ @NBOME I hope this is the case, but after this year nothing would surprise me. Also, instead of thanking the NBOME for making the only decision they possibly could at this point, Class of 2022 and #medtwitter needs to INCREASE the pressure to dismantle this test permanently.
I am curious how the CEO of the @NBOME can make a statement a little over a week ago claiming Level 2 PE is still happening, and then it is "postponed indefinitely." Is the CEO and the board completely out of sync on this? Bad business. And what is an "alternate pathway?"
@jbcarmody They’re working on an “alternative pathway” which is ridiculous. Our medical schools have already assessed our clinical competencies and it seems as though the NBOME is determined to charge us money for an arbitrary exam
@AmeetRKini I feel like these programs are somewhat predatory. If they can be avoided, avoid them. LECOM is notorious amongst students for how poorly they manage these schools. This is my opinion.
This test was worthless. It's "demise" should be celebrated. What lies ahead is less burden on students. Let us pray that they don't come up with a new gimmick to strip us of more high interest student loan money. #MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter
The pandemic put the Step 2 Clinical Skills test temporarily on hold, but now USMLE leaders say it’s gone for good. Here’s what drove the decision — and what lies ahead. #meded

Not surprising at all after all that has happened this year. It is clear that the @AOAforDOs only cares for the public image of the profession, and has no regards for the students themselves. No future DO should EVER support them. #takethepledge
Not only did they cancel, they offered refunds to those who already took it and also reimbursement for travel expenses. This should be the gold standard when Level 2 PE is cancelled, don't you think @AOAforDOs@NBOME@AACOMmunities#MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter
