Congrats to Elmar, Jack, and Keith for winning poster and oral presentation awards, and making Cathy so proud! They won cash prizes and signed copies of @edyong209's book. Thanks #FRMS2019 for such a great #microbiome symposium! @hazletok @CUAnschutz
Systems analysis of predictors of metabolic disease in PLWH and MSM found increased LBP, an inflammatory marker indicative of an impaired intestinal barrier, was associated with worse metabolic health along w/ specific nutrients, microbes, and metabolites

The last paper of my dissertation work is finally published! This cohort provided many challenges & I think the lessons I learned with this one will stay with me for a long time. Thankful for the guidance from @CathyLozupone (and many others) for it.
A big congrats to the new Dr. Janet Siebert on successfully defending her thesis! 🎉 Check out her recently published paper, "Multiomic predictors of short‐term weight loss and clinical outcomes during a behavioral‐based weight loss intervention"

Ah memories. My daughters posing with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV at the International AIDS meeting in South Africa in 2016. To think we were worried that this meeting wouldn’t be kid friendly😀
Our paper examines fungal endophyte composition of over 1000 native Hawaiian plants across the main Hawaiian archipelago, including most genera, is online https://t.co/1MBXQLdjUq. https://t.co/5aWVW6nHnB
Here’s an egregiously pretty photo from Kamakou preserve on Molokai.
Lozupone lab weekly online meetings have been more entertaining with this guest speaker! We miss being in lab more, but we're doing our part. Stay safe everyone!
Our review on relationships between blood type and microbes: This topic became of interest when we found blood type specificity to hemagglutination by Bacteroides fragilis and the more we dug into the literature, the more fascinated we became! @lozuponelab https://t.co/y66ZtQN1Wd
We will miss you, Kumar (@k00kumar), but the Lozupone Lab is especially proud right now. Congratulations on being selected as a Gates Cambridge Scholar! 🎉
New paper from @LozuponeLab, @mikerobiome. This tool uses KEGG to predict and visualize which compounds in an untargeted metabolome could have been produced by the host, the microbiome, or either.
