Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Whatever [the next outbreak] is, we ain’t ready for it. We still have anti-vaxxers running around.”
“I don’t trust scientists. I saw a YouTube video, so I’m not going to take it.” (mocking)
“I don’t want you to ever forget this story.”
“20,000 years ago, we’re in the cave. Do you know what the life expectancy was?”
Shannon Sharpe: “10 years? 15 years?”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “30. Half of everyone born was dead before they were 30.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Wow!!!”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Fast forward to 1840… everyone born in the world was dead by the age of 35. We gained five years of life expectancy. And every one of them ate organic, breathed clean air… Science matters here.”
“We’ve doubled the life expectancy with antibiotics, vaccines, and sanitation. The three biggest forces operating on our longevity. So to come around and say I don’t need vaccines because I’m not getting sick, that’s like saying, why are you using dandruff shampoo? You don’t have dandruff.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Well, I don’t want to get it.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “That’s my point. If you’re successful, people think you don’t need it when that’s what’s creating the ongoing success in the first place.”
I feel like you’re just talking past me and not reading what I’m typing. There’s no reason for a city to be running a deficit when they pay more in taxes than they receive. It’s fiscally irresponsible. Also the city doesn’t owe any of the money back to the state. The debt service rate is about 10% and the bonds have high credit ratings. Most large cities go into debt to fund large infrastructure projects so idk why we’re acting like this isn’t normal.
@WadePlem@dhe3g This is the most single track minded way of viewing this. “The state gave them money so it’s a bailout” completely ignoring that nyc pays more in taxes than they receive (even after this “bailout” btw) and ignoring that ny contributes to half the states income tax.
This is just wrong. NYC pays more in taxes than it receives from the state. Asking for some of that back to shore up a deficit is not a bailout and makes sense fiscally. Also pensions are not getting money taken from them. The payments are just getting delayed so the city will have to pay more into them later. Before you mindlessly tweet about stuff please do the bare minimum of research.
Me wanting kids to be fed isn’t a grift lmao. Yes in an ideal society parents wouldn’t need the school lunch and be able to send their kids to school everyday with their own lunch. However we don’t live in an ideal society and part of policy making is acknowledging that fact and trying to do the best we can. No single policy is going to fix the socioeconomic conditions that lead to parents not being able to make lunch. One single policy will however ensure that all kids get at least one meal a day. Until we can fix the broader issues this is what we have to do.
@TheKarlKolchak@saint_cloudy There’s something to be said about how unimaginably selfish this country has gotten to the point where people dont want their tax money to go towards feeding kids.
Gaza is a permanent stain on his legacy, but other than that he was a good president by most metrics. Just unlucky because of Covid causing global inflation.
He had the most pro-worker cabinet in recent history, strengthened unions, ended the Afghanistan forever war, cut drone strikes by like 90%.
Bro was just too old and sleepy to defend his own record on a debate stage.
So this is kinda misinformation. So the not “taking” money from pensions. He’s just delaying the payment the city makes to them. People will still receive the same amount and the city will have to pay MORE down the line to them. Also the city pays more in taxes to the state then it receives (as it should tbh) so asking for a portion of that tax money back to shore up a budget deficit is not a “handout”. Also hot take this country gives a large amount of its tax dollars to old people and it’s about time we revisit this and evaluate if we should be spending as much as we do.
@LilSyuto@_Reloe The difference is the influence the player has over their own gear progression. If you want to progress and gear is time gated oh well you have to hold that. But if gear progression is naturally slower you can just put in more time.
Showrunner Eric Kripke responds to “filler episode” complaints in ‘THE BOYS’ Season 5.
“None of the things that happen in the last few episodes will matter if you don’t flesh out the characters. I’m getting a lot of online dissatisfaction, to put it politely. And I’m like, ‘What are you expecting? Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?’”

@Chizitere_xyz I’m ngl I don’t even think it’s that deep. I think the average person just does not understand how truly dangerous a bear really is. I’ve had full on arguments with people who think for some reason they can take on a bear and it’s baffling to me.
Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—
AOC: Wah wah wah.
We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no. Republicans have fought for partisan gerrymanders across the United States of America. And these are the rules that they have set.
And so if the Republican Party wanted to start this, they did this in North Carolina. They drew out three Democratic members of Congress in North Carolina. They did it in Texas.
What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over, doesn’t fight, and takes everything sitting down. And what they’re mad at right now is that we are here in a new day. And we have been asking the Democratic Party to stand up and fight, and now they did—and now the Republican Party doesn’t like the fact that they are fighting against someone who actually will stand up for the American people.
So if Republicans decide that they would like to revisit a ban on partisan gerrymandering, I welcome them. We have the bill right here to end this all today. But they don’t want to, because they like pursuing and continuing to enact an unfair electoral landscape. And so we have an obligation to defend ourselves.
Hi, I was one of the four people.
Of course we all wanted the show to look as polished as possible. There just wasn't enough time or manpower. Best I could do is add some lighting/shadow work to 1-2 sequences per episode since they're 40-55 minutes.
We did our best 🫰
