Yesterday @SLCouncils spent the day at @NaidexShow attending some great presentations and panel discussions, meeting current and new stakeholders and chatting about @PocklingtonHub get set progress internship opportunities. #Naidex2025
2/2 West Midlands mayor @RichParkerLab joined t9 discuss the work being done in region, acknowledging the challenges disabled people face & how as a collective we will work together to make #PositiveChange. I also joined a panel to discuss the importance of genuine coproduction.
1/2 Itโs been a very busy month for our West Midlands @SLCouncils teams this disability history month. We recently attended @WestMids_CA reducing disability inequalities summit hosted by the wonderful @ShaniDhanda on behalf of @WestMids_CA and @BhamCityCouncil.
As part of disability history month I was recently invited along to the D.i.i.verse Hub podcast at @wlv_uni to discuss this years topic of Disability, Livelihood & Employment. We chatted about my own career & the brilliant internships programme at @PocklingtonHub. #opportunities
On International day of persons with disabilities, today I have had hearing aids fitted. Itโs been a huge step to accept after an accident 2 years ago, but something in time Iโm hopeful will enable me to be more confident and independent in the same way as my #WhiteCane
Brilliant day yesterday at @EuroBusExpo with @SamLeftwichTPT on behalf of @SLCouncils, sharing information about our new @CPT_UK training. Made some great new industry connections & highlighted how small things can have huge positive impact on BPS passengers
Yesterday our @SLCouncils members joined colleagues from @TransportForWM to discuss real time information QR codes being rolled out across all 1400 bus stop in the West Midlands. We highlighted the challenges with the current plan & how to make them accessible for BPS commuters.
Last week we joined colleagues from @UHBSafeguarding across the remaining hospital sites for the launch of their communication passport and dual sensory training package. We are incredibly proud of the work our @SLCouncils have done to CoDedign and CoDeliver with @uhbtrust.

A great day with the Sight Loss Council and ECLO(Eye Care Liaison Officer) at QE hospital for launch of hearing and vision work๐๏ธ๐. Do look out for the launch at other sites for in next coming weeks.

Today we joined @UHBSafeguarding team at Queen Elizabeth hospital to launch their new sensory training project. Weโve worked closely with the team to develop the training, & create a new communication passport as part of our work to #MakeHealthAccessible. #AIS@SLCouncils
This week I joined members from our Birmingham and Black Country @SLCouncils as we were invited by the @WestMidsPCC to the victims commission plan following on from our work with @WMPolice on hate crime. Ensuring the needs of blind and partially sighted people are considered.
We were invited by @BCHCRKIRBY to join the senior leadership meeting at @bhamcommunity NHS trust to continue discussions around how we work collaboratively and ensure patients ALWAYS receive person centred care, including correspondence in their preferred format.#AIS@SLCouncils
