My longstanding passion for cycling. 🥰
A little throwback to my early days, racing bikes on 24" wheels, owning an authentic Nike Polka Dot jersey signed by Mr. Virenque and obviously fanboying Rabobank. 🚴♂️
Bikes is happiness.
UCI's new nutrition position statement was released, and Ketone supplements are still listed as "not recommended based on current evidence"
It also acknowledges riders are taking 120g+ of carbs per hour, but says performance benefit still requires validation

@pietrooijakkers@velofacts Gefeliciteerd, je werkgever voldoet aan de meest basale normen van goed werkgeverschap. Daarmee zijn de verhalen over een angstcultuur en suïcidale gedachten natuurlijk meteen ontkracht
@banikf_@laflammerouge16 That’s not what the rules say. The finish is when the front tyre reaches the vertical plane from the starting edge of the finish line aka the white-to-black edge. The photofinish decides who reached that plane first but it doesn’t define the plane.
In 2021 I wrote this thread because there were genuinely signs that the photo finish wasn’t set up correctly
In Ciccone’s case, there’s nothing concrete to go on. But the truth is in practice the photofinish can be set up anywhere on that 32cm white strip, even diagonal
The photo finish of #AGR21 was pointing at a spot on the barriers roughly ~25 centimeters before the actual finish.
This is we and @lynchyeatspizza think after analysing photos of the finish.
How did we get to this? ⬇️
@BramBerkien@lucxsronald Yes, but speed here is a combination of the kinetic energy of both the rider and the bike. During the bike throw there’s a transfer of energy between the rider’s body and the bike. So a bike going slower can have a body going way faster, depending on the timing
