We're changing our name. Captions is now Mirage.
Today's most popular medium is short-form video. It's the fastest-growing format, it’s what people want, and it’s what brands need to grow.
But unlike other forms of AI content like text or image, which can be generated and ready-to-use with a single prompt, generated video still requires a lot of manual work and editing to be ready to share. This is where the real opportunity lies.
The way we see it, the real race for AI video hasn’t even begun.
The world is waiting for a foundation model for video that can take an idea and produce a fully usable, cohesive output from scratch. So that’s what we’re building.
We’re rebranding to Mirage to reflect our expanded vision for video, starting with the short-form format, through frontier AI research and models.

Thank you @MrBeast ! As both an OG creator and someone who works at YouTube, it’s so beyond meaningful that the Partner Program and the ideal behind it really are at the heart of everything — that we all succeed best together

@AprilynneAlter Great lesson, especially for those who speak languages with a smaller audience than English and Spanish.
I feel like focusing on creating the best content possible sometimes is just going to wreck your channel. Loved the last few videos, Aprilynne ;)
@stalman I have 450 subscribers on my 6-month-old mailing list. One of the best things I did last year was spend time talking to subscribers.
Podcasts are still tricky for me as it's hard to gain traction.
@sgnoogle@TeamYouTube Yeah, I can relate. Although I sense that people are more inclined to utilize the Superchat feature compared to Subscriptions (at least that is what I’ve noticed in my life). I noticed this difference in the users when comparing YT to Twitch.
@YouTubeLiaison I’m curious about the significance of each main stat. Is it more important to focus on engagement to increase impressions, or should we consider the video subject and how it’s presented?
It’s genuinely quite subjective. For instance, I find that after a while of creating “simple” videos, I enjoy doing something more thought-provoking, with more B-rolls and other elements.
I initially thought I enjoyed product reviews, but ultimately, I much prefer educational content. 😌
