Roger Ebert on âThe Mummyâ
âThere is within me an unslaked hunger for preposterous adventure movies. I resist the
bad ones, but when a "Congo" or an "Anaconda" comes along, my heart leaps up and I cave in. "The Mummy" is a movie like that. There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased. There is a little immaturity stuck away in the crannies of even the most judicious of us, and we
should treasure it.â
This is Bowie. He's a yellow Lab who rides shotgun as co-pilot on his dad's Uber shifts. Passengers lose it every time they spot him. Turning regular rides into instant joy. best boy on the road đđ
This is Marcus, and his accidental service dog, Gunner.
Marcus served 3 deployments to Afghanistan. For years, heâs woken up at 3am, drenched in sweat, convinced heâs in back in Kandahar.
Gunner came to the family when his owner passed away, which was a neighbor of Marcus. On the first night they had him, Marcus had a nightmare, and Gunner immediately jumped on his chest, and laid on him. For the first time in years, Marcus didnât thrash, and was able to just breath, despite almost 80lbs of weight on him. Gunner laid on him for 2hrs+ that night.
Marcusâs wife had urged him to get help for years. She was able to catch it on recording, to show to his counselor. The counselor told them what Gunner was doing was called âPressure TherapyââŠwhich is what PTSD service dogs are trained to do.
Gunner never had training. He just had instincts, and an instant bond. The term, âManâs best friendâ doesnât cut it sometimes.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a movie about an entertainment industry in danger of getting wiped away (literally) by an evil conglomerate buying everything up to make the world a worse place, feels as prescient as ever.
In 1987, before TOOL, Maynard James Keenan was in C.A.D. - Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty. Here they are playing âBurn About Outâ, a proto, early version of TOOLâs âSoberâ. The Grand Rapids GRTV Public Access crew were in for a preview treat that day!!
âOh no this is terrible my wife of 25 years transformed from an elegant beauty into a voluptuous bombshell with giant fucking honkersâ said no man ever in the history of men.
15 things to do with your mother while she is still alive. One day, youâll wish you had.
1. Ask her about her life before you were born. She had dreams, fears, and a whole world that existed before she became mom.
2. Record her voice while sheâs doing something ordinary like Cooking, Scolding, Laughing. One day, that voice will feel priceless.
3. Ask her what the hardest phase of her life was. Sheâll probably talk about sacrifice without calling it sacrifice.
4. Learn one recipe she makes without measuring anything. Food is how many mothers express love. Appreciate the food she makes, you donât know deep inside she will feel very happy.
5. Take photos of her doing everyday things.
Not posed or dressed up. Only Candid. These will mean more than any perfect picture.
6. Tell her thank you for things she never got credit for. She remembers everything, even if she never mentions it.
7. Tell her youâre proud of her.
Most mothers hear complaints far more than appreciation.
8. Ask her what she worries about the most.
Chances are, itâs still you.
9. Sit with her without checking your phone.
Just be present. Thatâs rare now.
10.Ask her what she wanted to be when she was young and listen without interrupting.
11. Hug her for no reason. Donât rush it.
https://t.co/wuxftUs97U her even when you have nothing to say. One day, youâll miss the sound of her answering.
13.Take a photo of just the two of you together. Frame it.
14.Ask her about her parents. Her stories keep generations alive.
15.Tell her something youâre struggling with.
No matter how old you are, it still matters to her that she can protect you.
If your mother is still alive, please do at least one thing from this list today. Youâll never regret it & take care of her health.
RT this for someone who still has time.
what the fuck do you people think this is, a fucking game? did you think it was just a meme? this crime should be enough to topple the US govt, full stop. every admin since Clinton has been aware of this and done nothing. our leaders are all pederasts or enablers, period
I feel like the "Jeffrey Epstein" that been built up over the years across our internet zeitgeist with jokes and memes has kinda numbed people to the fact this was a real man who was actively trafficking and raping children of all ages, for decades.
James Cameron says he doesnât think about the Academy Awards as they "donât tend to honor sci-fi films", naming Denis Villeneuveâs âDuneâ movies as examples:
"I donât think about the Academy Awards that much intentionally. They donât tend to honor sci-fi films. Itâs almost never properly recognized. Denis Villeneuve made these 2 magnificent âDuneâ films. Apparently these films made themselves because he wasnt considered as a director."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but when you're done eradicating trans people and immigrants, you will still be broke, your life will still suck, and you'll still be a horrible human being.
