"Obviously, it's been 52 weeks to this day, same round, same court. I know you didn't win, but the fact you were able to play such an incredible 5-setter and received the ovation you received walking off. Do you kind of leave with happier memories this time around?"

Grigor: "I don't know, happier memories (laughs). Well, on the court it was a loss again, it's not so happy. But, I'm going to choose to see it as a happy moment. Every match that I've played so far has been filled with so many emotions. It's sad for sure, it's sad. Of course, I wanted to do well and even better, who knows what might've happened. At least now I know that I just didn't have enough in me to make it happen. But listen. I'm going to try again. I truly believe that I have some more moments like that in me. I just need to find a way to turn it into my favor.

I can't just flip the switch after 52 weeks and expect to play lights out. I have to fight even more right now, more than before. I have to put a lot more effort than before. Everything kind of doubles up for me from now on and I need to be very selective with everything that I do on and off the court so I can give myself the best chance."

“We all remember what happened 12 months ago here. Everyone feels for you. Because of that, how much does that make you appreciate a moment like this?”

Grigor: “You know, me and that roof have a history all of a sudden. 😂 The past three matches it’s been the same thing. Listen guys, thank you. After last year and the way I exited, I would never know what would’ve happened. But guess what, this year I’m back here. And I’m able to re-write everything again. I’m just trying to be completely honest and vulnerable in front of you guys. It’s not about the win or the loss, but for me to overcome every obstacle I have in front of me, stay more in the present moment, enjoy moments like that. I repeated that more than 1000 times throughout the match today. Just enjoy this moment. It’s not very often you come out here and play out here. I really don’t know how many more times I’ll be able to come back here. So might as well make the most out of it.” 🥹
