BREAKING: U.S. Space Command has conducted its first live-fly exercise for “maneuver warfare” in space, coordinating real satellite movements across low, medium, and geosynchronous Earth orbit.

Apollo Maneuvers 2026 used existing U.S. military satellites alongside allied and commercial capabilities to test how spacecraft could strategically maneuver for tactical advantage during a future conflict, rather than remain in fixed, predictable orbits.

The exercise also tested the logistics needed to sustain that movement, including concepts for satellite servicing and eventually refueling, resupply and rapid replacement. The U.S., UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand participated through Operation Olympic Defender.

Space Command chief Gen. Stephen Whiting says a satellite locked into a predictable orbit is effectively fighting from a known, easily targeted position. The goal is spacecraft that can move, survive, and reposition as operational conditions change.
