Happy to report the UN has fantastic indoor air quality! But I did get questioned by multiple security guards about why I was wearing a mask. I told them we were attending meetings about preventing pandemics ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Of course one of the best science fiction directors of all time understands the science of airborne virus transmission! Steven Spielberg is wearing a high quality mask during the California COVID surge.
Giving an external committee power to veto research funding because it doesnโt align to a political agenda will not only harm science, it is a threat to democracy. https://t.co/iwQbd5EnVF
The EPA has repealed a rule that would have directly saved thousands of lives by limiting fossil fuel emissions from power plants. Lobbyists successfully pushed for this repeal using surging demand from data centers as justification. The government chose AI over human lives.
UN: Climate change will reach at least 1.8 C, a point where there are no good outcomes
Trump: Great time to repeal limits on power plant pollution!

Itโs valid to be skeptical of the CDC, given the leadership there. But most outbreak data comes from state health departments. You can easily double check any aggregated national data the CDC publishes by comparing for with state level data for consistency.
The CDC has declared the cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce over. Nearly 13,000 cases in 21 states have been linked to Taylor Farms lettuce. 570 people have been hospitalized and two have died.
The CDC has declared the cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce over. Nearly 13,000 cases in 21 states have been linked to Taylor Farms lettuce. 570 people have been hospitalized and two have died.
The FDA is also investigating four smaller cyclospora outbreaks, the largest of which has 231 cases. They have not yet identified the sources of these outbreaks.
The latest best-by date on the recalled lettuce was Aug. 3, meaning that the affected lettuce should not be available in stores or restaurants. But new cases have still mounted in the weeks since, in part because it takes so long to become sick from cyclospora.
