🕵️‍♂️ Russian Intelligence Services Suspected of Recruiting Turkish Criminal Networks for Sabotage Operations Across Europe — WELT

German intelligence authorities are investigating possible links between Russian intelligence services and the Turkish-Kurdish criminal organization known as the Daltons, suspected of involvement in attacks on European infrastructure.

🚨 Key findings:

🇵🇱 Attack on Ukrainian communications: The group is suspected of involvement in the September arson attack on a Starlink facility near Warsaw, reportedly used to support communications with Ukraine.

🇩🇪 Arrests in Germany: Two suspected members were arrested in Nürtingen under European arrest warrants.

🇷🇺 The Moscow connection: The group’s alleged leader, Beratcan Gökdemir, has reportedly been based in Russia. Investigators are examining allegations that criminal operations were coordinated from Russian territory and potentially linked to Russian intelligence services.

⚠️ Recruitment methods: The organization has reportedly recruited young people, including minors, for criminal activities such as extortion and arson.

This case raises serious questions about Russia’s possible use of transnational organized crime as a proxy for hybrid warfare inside Europe.

If confirmed, it would illustrate how criminal networks can be used to target critical infrastructure while obscuring the involvement of state actors.

Europe must recognize that threats to Ukrainian security can also threaten European security.
