This little bat is a Kuhl's pipistrelle, the 1st record for Norfolk! It was found trapped in an industrial unit in Great Yarmouth. No injuries just underweight & very thirsty, so after a few days TLC with one of our bat carers it will shortly be released back at the coast.
It’s happened again ☹️ Rare barbastelle bat taken to bat carer in Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group this week - hit by a car & didn’t survive. Road schemes like proposed Norwich Western Link, which would pass through internationally important barbastelle area, are major threat. @_BCT_
Save the largest known rare bat colony! 🦇The Norwich Western Link Road would be disastrous for Norfolk’s wildlife. Nature’s recovery must be a priority, not further destruction. Support nature and @NorfolkWT
We are not sure who is advising @NorfolkCC but it doesn’t take too much of a leap to see that by attacking and belittling the body appointed to protect nature the time may have come to change advisor. Norfolk a county renowned for its beautiful landscapes and wide tapestry of wildlife should be rejoicing in the presence of the finding of a super colony of barbastelle bats. To ignore it and to put politics above nature paints a very black picture and uncovers the lack of care it has for what makes Norfolk the County it is.
The science is clear on this. Badger culls don’t work. They are not the answer. @DefraGovUK please do the right thing for the good of farming and wildlife. Please listen to the @WildlifeTrusts and the many other organisations providing all the accurate evidence you need.
So, not only have @NorfolkCC ignored years of advice & submitted a planning application for the NWL...🤨
But some MPs have written to DEFRA Secretary of State to out-maneuver Natural England's bat guidance which could block the road, labelling their work as 'arbitrary' 🙃🥺
🚨Norfolk MPs write to Steve Barclay to change bat advice &override @NaturalEngland ecologists
This is an attack on:
❌science
❌species protection
❌independence of civil servants
❌those civil servants
Repost if you agree that MPs should not be doing this👇
@MPWatchNetwork
We are disappointed at the UK Government’s proposals to continue the culling of badgers. We understand that bovine tuberculosis is a major concern, and we should be working collectively to control it, but as we’ve always maintained culling badgers isn’t the right way. (1/2)
Did you know it’s nesting season 🐦 ?
This means it’s even more vital to keep dogs on leads, even well-behaved ones! You’ll be protecting birds like meadow pipits, skylarks and nightjars. 💚

In September the Prime Minister and his Government announced delays for key climate commitments , tearing up plans to tackle vehicle emissions & phase out gas boilers .
Today I can announce I'm taking them to the High Court – but I need your help .

My best hibernation check so far. Amazing to be able to get close up views like this. The survey was conducted under licence and all bats swiftly left in peace again #bats#ecology
WFE staff were out undertaking hibernation checks today for @NorwichBats & @BCT_NBMP. A great opportunity to see some Daubenton's & Natterer's bats up close. #bats#hibernation
I wrote for the @DailyExpressRB asking the government to ban the UK sale of unethical elephant tourism. These animals face so much cruelty to satisfy the demand of rides and selfies. RT if you’d like a ban!
