Global firms have come together today to hear about the UK's strengths at the International Investment Summit.
One of these is having a pro-growth Government, with the launch of the National Wealth Fund to mobilise billions in investment, creating jobs & helping rebuild Britain.
🚨BREAKING: We are creating a new National Wealth Fund
This Fund will help get the economy growing by:
📈Unlocking investment
💼Supporting thousands of jobs
🇬🇧 Making every part of the country better off
I’m lucky that I’m able bodied and healthy - it’s a pain but I can still get outside. There are injured and disabled people in our building who are literally unable to leave their flats. Disgraceful - what do we pay our £1000s of service charge for?
It’s really impacting my life and mental health having to carry my dog, shopping, suitcases etc up and down 7 flights of stairs for weeks because our building managers can’t be bothered to fix our lift properly. Shame on you @MetTVH
Recently we've seen a vibrant debate on when the world will firmly pass 1.5C.
Over at @CarbonBrief I weigh in with a new analysis, finding that it will most likely occur in the late 2020s or early 2030s in a world where emissions do not rapidly decrease. https://t.co/Cibd40GM31
BREAKING: UK govt has decided NOT to "carry forward" surplus emissions cuts from the third carbon budget
This is in line with advice from @theCCCuk
Earlier reports suggested govt was considering carry forward, which would have weakened UK ambition

.@SW_Help I have just paid a penalty notice and would like to publicly note that I think you and your fare recovery policy are evil and unjust, and if I had the choice I would never set foot on one of your trains again. Thank you.
Bit of a long read on today's @RockyMtnInst report on how clean tech deployment is going exponential and as such net zero is closer than you think. https://t.co/5jNPeHcYA5 BG+
Before the pandemic, going out for midweek dinner or drinks was something I did quite often. Now, not so much...
And it turns out I'm not alone. People all over the world have traded weeknight dinners for weekend lunches

As #COP27 draws to a close, we're reflecting on the commitments we made in #SharmElSheikh to tackle climate change 🌎
From huge amounts of funding, to supporting worldwide promises to cut emissions, we've shown that we are committed to keeping 1.5° alive.
This is so cool. I’m optimistic at how possible it was to keep below 1.5C, but depressed at how unrealistic all my policy choices seem in our current global political climate.
🚨
The @IPCC_CH report on how to tackle climate change is finally out, covering nearly 3,000 pages
Look out tomorrow for @CarbonBrief in-depth summary
Here are some highlights
1/ Global GHG emissions are at highest ever level, but growth has slowed
