Desperately going through my heritage to find an Irish/French/Spanish etc ancestor. Some football related posts, I need to lighten the mood from #Brexitshambles
This is Kwasi Kwarteng MP for the constituency I live in #NotMyMP & along with not thinking fraud is a crime, he voted (by proxy) to allow raw sewage to be pumped into our waterways. Very brave given he's such a shit that he risks being flushed away too

I seem to have upset the @Nigel_Farage fan club - so let me be clear.
This man sows hate, lies and division.
He is a grifter and a conman.
He does not represent the vast majority of Britons.
RT if you agree
P.s. multiculturalism is great.

Post: Protecting Rob’s Story from Misinformation
I need to speak openly and clearly about something deeply upsetting. In recent days, there have been individuals and independent reporters twisting the facts surrounding my son Rob’s death for their own political agendas and extremist views.
To be absolutely clear — I have only shared Rob’s story with Worcester News, ITV, BBC, Hereford and Worcester Radio and The Daily Mail. Each of these outlets has chosen to focus on specific parts of his story — housing, mental health support, or traumatic brain injury (TBI) — but none have covered the full account.
One of the most harmful and completely false claims being spread is that “a house was given to a migrant instead of Rob.” This is untrue. Rob never blamed any sector of the community for his struggles. Anyone who truly knew him will know that Rob was friends with people from all walks of life, from every background and circumstance. He believed in fairness, not hatred.
Rob wanted to open people’s eyes to system failure, not to divide communities. Twisting his story to incite hate or violence goes against everything he stood for.
If you see posts, comments, or articles spreading lies or using Rob’s name to push political agendas, please call it out. Do not let misinformation stand unchallenged. This movement — Rob’s Army — is built on truth, justice, and respect for Rob’s memory.
We will not allow hate to speak louder than the truth.
We will not let Rob’s name be used to hurt others.
We will stand together for justice, not division.

@Suffragent_ As usual, people read through headline and do not bother to understand the story. The man had complex issues (mental, addictions, family). He was offered accommodation but declined it. By all means criticise but do so based on facts
@DonaldJTrumpJr Your post just highlights the morals and empathy that have been instilled in you by your father
And it also highlights your lack of education if you don't realise that not all doctors are medics
@CharlotteCGill Charlotte she is probably wearing a Hijab because of her heritage, family tradition and religious beliefs. This is one of the things that enriches the UK and makes us uniquely diverse and cultured. You however are a disgrace and make me embarrassed to be British, the worst of us
@i_iratus I think your main problem in this thread is trying to engage in discourse and analysis on a platform for those with an attention span shorter than a goldfish
This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.
This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.
I don’t know much about Isabel Oakeshott but I am not surprised at her move to Dubai to school and raise her three children
After spending years creating an anti immigrant toxic environment in the UK, it’s interesting to see how she has chosen to become an immigrant and move to an Islamic country which is run by sharia law
Oakeshott is now a proud immigrant confirming that there’s nothing wrong with being an immigrant, whether its for economic reasons or whether its to raise your children in an environment you believe is better
It also confirms to us that she doesn’t have a problem with Islam because she’s chosen an Islamic country to move to
And also doesn’t really have a problem with sharia law, because of each of the Emirates in the UAE is based on interpretations of sharia law, with a good mix of Arab culture, and of course a hint of western culture too
There’s an Arabic word, Ummah, which is often translated to mean ‘the global Muslim community,’ but in fact it means something else
You see Prophet Muhammad had a vision of people living together alongside one another in peace, irrespective of whatever religion they chose to follow
In his Constitution of Medina, one of the terms reads, "The Jews of Banu Awf are one community with the Muslims. The Jews have their religion, and the Muslims have theirs"
Living in a multi faith society is a core principle of any nation that professes to follow any version of Islam, it's literally the model of society Prophet Muhammad set up
Indeed, not only does the Quran (2:256) say there is no compulsion in religion, but Prophet Muhammad even went as far as to encourage his Muslim followers to meet with their non-Muslim family members, especially on the days of their religious celebrations; this included many of his followers whose families were still at the time pagan
It is with this core framework in mind that all of the Gulf Arab States reflect, in their own way, the richness and diversity of multi-faith societies. Oil and gas wealth have transformed these countries and made them havens to live, so long as you're ok with following their respective approaches to sharia law
This is what Prophet Muhammad meant by his ‘ummah’ - his community was inclusivity and diversity. And it was essentially anyone from anywhere who wanted to find ways to live together, alongside one another, in peace
Incidentally this is also of course the model we find in most western countries too, which goes to show that most of humanity is ok living alongside people with different ways of life. It's just a question of finding a balance
On Talk TV last year Isabel Oakeshott said that “we have imported at a completely unprecedented rate people from so many different cultures” that Britain has ‘lost sight of our national identity and who we are”
Strangely, her new home, Dubai, has a 90% immigrant population compared to the UK which has an 18% immigrant population
She criticises the UK but moves to a country with more than four times as many immigrants as the UK - never underestimate how some people's personal needs can often get in the way of their stated ideological positions, especially in the case of some whose livelihoods are earned through division
And I wonder, if you spend your life criticising immigrants but then ’seek refuge’ in a country full of of immigrants, does that make you a refugee? 🙃
While I’ve not seen any specific criticism of halal food from Oakeshott, almost all meats across Dubai will be from halal slaughtered suppliers, meaning that those in her far right fanbase who are anti halal meat in the UK may find discomfort knowing that the T-bone steak their populist hero is being nourished by, is from animals slaughtered in a halal way
I have quite a few friends who grew up in Dubai, third culture people, now scattered around the world, but also a few who have moved there in recent years. Love it or loathe it, Dubai is a great place to raise a family, so it's unsurprising she chose Dubai over Skegness, her kids will love and thrive in the rich multi cultural multi faith tapestry that is Dubai
And while Oakeshott will live the immigrants dream in Dubai, her husband Tice and his political party will do their utmost to vilify immigrants, just not the type of immigrant his wife has become
Life is full of lessons and perhaps her time spent in Dubai will open her eyes to how diversity driven by immigration is a good thing for any society
Who knows, she might return to the UK and want 90% immigration because in her own words 90% immigration in the UAE offers ‘endless opportunities’ and a ‘booming economy’
And just pause for a moment to understand what she has just acknowledges, that one of the best ways to grow the economy is with immigrants. Who knew 🤷♂️
“My name is Amos Goldberg. I am an Israeli Professor of Holocaust Studies. For nearly 30 years I have researched and taught the Holocaust, genocide and state violence.
And I want to tell whoever is willing to listen that what’s happening now in Gaza is a genocide.
A year ago when October 7th happened, like all Israelis I was in shock. It was a war crime and a crime against humanity. 1200 people - more than 800 of them civilians - were killed in one day. Children and the elderly were among those taken hostage. Communities were destroyed. It was outrageous, traumatizing, personal. Like most Israelis, I know people who were killed, who lost loved ones or whose loved ones were taken hostage.
But immediately afterwards came Israel’s response and within weeks thousands of civilians were killed in Gaza. It took me some time to digest what was unfolding before my eyes. It was agonizing to confront that reality. I was reluctant to call it a genocide.
But if you read Raphael Lemkin – the Jewish-Polish legal scholar who coined the term ‘genocide’ and was the major driving force behind the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention – what is happening in Gaza now is exactly what he had in mind when he spoke about genocide.
It does not need to look like the Holocaust to be a genocide. Each genocide looks different and not all involve killing of millions or the entire group. The United Nations Genocide Convention explicitly asserts that genocide is the act of deliberately destroying a group in whole or in part. Those are the words.
But there does need to be a clear intent.
And indeed, there are clear indications of intent to destroy Gaza: Israel’s leaders - including the prime minister and the minister of defence - and many high-ranking military officers, media personalities, rabbis, as well as ordinary soldiers were very open about what they wanted to achieve. There were countless documented incitements to turn the whole of Gaza into rubble and claims that there are no innocent people living there.
A radical atmosphere of dehumanization of the Palestinians prevails in Israeli society to an extent that I can’t remember in my 58 years of living here.
Now that vision has been enacted. Tens of thousands of innocent children, women and men have been killed. Over a hundred thousand were wounded. There is a near total destruction of infrastructure, intentional starvation and blocking of humanitarian aid. There are mass graves and reliable testimony of summary executions. Children that were shot by snipers. All the universities and almost all hospitals are gone. Almost all the population is displaced. There have been numerous bombings of civilians in so-called ‘safe zones’. Gaza does not exist anymore. It is completely destroyed. Thus, the outcome fits perfectly with the stated intentions of Israel’s leadership.
Lemkin - that scholar who coined the term ‘genocide’ - described two phases of a genocide. The first is the destruction of the annihilated group and the second is what he called ‘imposition of the national pattern’ of the perpetrator. We are now witnessing the second phase as Israel prepares ethnically cleansed areas for Israeli settlements.
And therefore, I have come to the conclusion that this is exactly what a genocide looks like. We don’t teach about genocides in order to realize it retrospectively. We teach about it in order to prevent it and to stop it.
But like in every other case of genocide in history right now we have mass denial. Both here in Israel and around the world.
But reality cannot be denied.
So yes, it is a genocide.
And once you come to this conclusion you cannot remain silent.”

As the dust settles after yesterday's reforming #budget2024, it's time to look at what the reforms to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) from Inheritance Tax (IHT) actually mean, instead of the toys out of the pram reaction from a section of the farming community. A short 🧵 1/7
