I studied this topic for a college class project and based on what I’ve learned he in fact could’ve still been the leader because his passion for art was only because it was mostly an escape or a way to speak his feelings, obviously he tried making a career out of it, but his true intent was when he joined the party and seen he could control it in which he destroyed many paintings because he believed they were made by Jews and replaced them with his, but his hatred towards Jews were there all along, the school rejection was just there to shift his path towards where he was meant to go
