The state of the game industry:
- COVID boom → hire 1000s → lay them all off 5 years later
- AI tools → cut the team, figure it out later
- Big Tech: buy every GPU for AI → realise you can't build enough Xbox consoles
- Push prices → let consumers pay for everything
Ironically, we did get a physical release once.
Our Xbox and PS4 copies were printed, boxed, shipped to stores... and then 2020 happened.
The stores closed before players could buy them.
Turns out our only physical release arrived just as the physical world shut down.
Games are slowly becoming digital-only, and physical editions are fading away.
But there's still something special about holding a game box in your hands. So we made fake boxes for our real games, just so we could proudly display them at the studio.
Know your audience: we build drone simulators for enthusiasts, so every virtual drone gets obsessive attention.
Shapes match the real model exactly; metal reflects like metal, 3D printed parts show print-lines, and even fingerprints appear where pilots hold the drone.
