Didn’t have a seed-cleaning tool sensitive enough for small samples that I could use to separate sunflower achenes with germ from those without and trash. So I spent the weekend building one. Top right is clean, bottom right is trash + empty achenes + damaged. @Luis17ochoa
As part of my research project, I have to assess pests (mainly sunflower moth, red and grey seed weevil) in sunflowers. I found these eggs in a sunflower head. Can anyone identify or recognize them? #entomology#IPM#Sunflowers#PestControl#moths
Thanks to my advisor Jeff Bradshaw @true_bug I started my sunflower research trial evaluating insecticide-pollinators interaction in sunflowers at High Plains Agriculture Laboratory!! #sunflower#pollinators#IPM
By far one of the things that I have missed the most during my interim administration appointment is not being out in the field right now with my very hardworking and dedicated students. 😕
