💊 Does paracetamol in pregnancy increase the risk of autism or ADHD?
Our new study says NO!
Today, The Lancet published our systematic review and meta-analysis—the most robust analysis of the evidence to date—confirming no link between taking paracetamol during pregnancy and the risk of:
✔️ Autism
✔️ ADHD
✔️ Intellectual disability
We analysed high-quality data from sibling comparison studies involving over 400,000 children. This design helps control for genetics, family environment and long-term parental factors. The findings are clear: paracetamol remains a safe option in pregnancy when used as directed.

Pregnant women should feel reassured: paracetamol is still a safe and effective way to treat pain or fever when needed.
