Rezultaty tej katastrofalnej izolacji są widoczne gołym okiem: własna waluta, własna polityka migracyjna, sprawne koleje, bardzo niskie bezrobocie, gigantyczny sektor eksportowy i jeden z najwyższych poziomów życia na świecie. Tragedia. Bez europosłów Szwajcarzy nie mogą nawet wysłać kilkudziesięciu polityków do Strasburga, żeby raz w miesiącu przewozili tam demokrację z Brukseli.

Nie mają też dostępu do całej europejskiej mądrości regulacyjnej. Zamiast implementować każdą polityczną modę dwudziestu siedmiu państw, mają bezczelność urządzać własne referenda i samodzielnie decydować, co im odpowiada. Najwyraźniej nikt im nie powiedział, że w XXI wieku suwerenność jest zacofaniem, chyba że korzysta się z niej zgodnie z instrukcją.

Tak właśnie kończy się odrzucenie europejskiego projektu: bogactwem, stabilnością, własną walutą i irytującą możliwością samodzielnego podejmowania decyzji.

Szwajcarzy naprawdę powinni przemyśleć swoje błędy.

Czy ktoś sobie wyobraża sytuację Polski, gdyby wyszla z Unii?

New York’s mayor just publicly mourned a Rikers inmate like the city lost a crossing guard.

The inmate: Clarence Woodward. Charged with hacking a man to death with meat cleavers in a Bronx laundromat. Twenty-seven prior arrests. Paroled for a month. Then, allegedly, laundry day turned into a slasher film.

Mayor Mamdani was “deeply saddened.” Thoughts and prayers for *his* family. Also, close Rikers ASAP. The meat cleavers did not get a mention. Neither did Jose Miranda, the guy who actually died on the floor.

This is the new compassion chart:

- Accused cleaver guy in a jumpsuit: tragedy
- Man butchered while doing laundry: scheduling conflict

They’ll say he wasn’t convicted. True. He also wasn’t a labrador. Charged with murder is not “community stakeholder experiencing housing instability.”

You can hate Rikers and still notice the mayor’s condolence list looks like it was written by the public defender’s intern. One family gets the official hug. The other family gets to watch a politician turn a double stabbing into a facilities-management speech.

After finally conceding today that Lindsay did in fact love her children, was mentally ill at the time of the homicides, and legitimately attempted to kill herself -- all of which they had based their entire theory of the case on DENYING for the past three and a half years -- Jennifer Sprague then concluded her closing argument with yet another incoherent pivot at the very last minute, declaring: "She left them discarded on the basement floor like broken toys because she was done playing the game."

WTF? What the hell does that even mean? This woman is sick. And she's backed by the punitive power of the state!
