Is Alberta solving its doctor shortage?
It's true that the province is adding doctors (2.2% increase year-over-year), but that addition doesn't come close to meeting the population growth (4.5% increase year-over-year).
So, the problem is actually getting worse.
I’d like to make a couple of comments on a particular part of the Manning report. This is about using ‘non-scientific’ evidence or in his own words work that had not been arrived at or proved in some laboratory. /1

Alberta, and for that matter Canada, needs a full lessons learned Inquiry into the covid response. Something analogous to the Rouleau Commission on the imposition of the Emergencies Act. The Manning Report is not that.
This was also predicted at the time based on the mandate, appointment of Manning/other panelists, and Smith's UCP leadership race/initial months as Premier. It was also demonstrated by the show of force by Take Back Alberta and resolutions that were passed at the UCP convention.
After I wrote about the massive real-life consequences of a new human right for medical procedures (link below), Smith walked it back to say maybe it's only for MRNA vaccines, and then walked it back entirely.
And Presto! the idea is back again.

Should add that Toews commissioned the Lifeworks report. In addition, Lifeworks report contradicts internal Alberta Finance analysis that was presented to Toews when he was Minister.
I promise you, you can call for a ceasefire and be horrified that a Jewish school in Montreal was shot at two times in a week! These are not incompatible.
