Whereโs the best watch party in LA tonight?
@ironchefbuu@Kazanjy@griddr@YIMBYLAND There are more to cities than their downtowns. Many in California have historic streetcar suburbs that are prime real estate, and massively underdeveloped by modern and even more traditional standards.
@daniel_w_owens@Kazanjy@YIMBYLAND Faster permitting was a piece of it. The regulation and bureaucracy will drive away even the most altruistic and best intentioned of developers.
They leaned into state laws, provided their own program โcomplete communities,โ and despite the mayor being unpopular, he passed an executive order to get all affordable housing permitted within 30 days.
If a project meets the criteria, no further community review and project is approved.
@griddr@Kazanjy@YIMBYLAND SF has the luxury, and the money, just not the willpower. Imagine if those 3 dozen people were just allowed to share a lot? Something they legally cannot do now.
@PorcDalmatian@cayimby Is it fair to say, if it were not for Covid, that demand never would have went down?
The answer is likely yes. And the lack of demand causes what to happen? Please re-read the last sentence of your first paragraph. You perfectly explained how supply and demand work.
