The #CostcappenScandal is pretty simple in my mind.
Verstappen is 103 points clear. So if they punish him with a mediocre points deduction for this season, he’ll still win 2 WDC’s. Which makes a mockery of the entire cost cap, but this is what will likely be the outcome.
Their January striker: Scores a hattrick to make it 10 goal contributions in 8 games
Our January striker: booed onto the pitch
Embarrassment yet again.
@BristolCity Absolute madness. Imagine being at the training ground last few months - spent all of January watching key players leave, all of Feb and March watching key players get injured, and then international break the manager gets the boot! Lovely work from the people at the top 😂😂😂
@BristolCity@fever_uk Worrying performance as most of the players look like they’ve given up on the season, maybe some of them have on the “project”?
With important contracts up both this and next summer, it’s genuinely concerning how much of a free fall we are in and where we will be when it ends
@BristolCity@fever_uk Good response to going behind, worried that the goal would knock us as we were starting to get on top but seemed to encourage us - keep it going 💪
@TalkWurzel Hate to break it to you, but Burgzorg IS the striker - he always has been. In my head:
Mehmeti -> Horvat
Vyner -> Elie
Yu -> Earthy
Mayulu -> Burgzorg
Cornick -> Bell?
Roberts -> Naylor
MOL will need replacing in the summer, but Lumley is the cover for this season I guess
@BristolCity He looks and sounds how the team played - tired, fed up and in need of help. Can only imagine how it’s felt at the HPC for the last couple of weeks, watching player after player leaving and a few loans and young lads coming in - mental
@OSIBPODMAG I know there’s no loyalty in football anymore but even so. He’s starting every game when he’s fit, has captained the side recently I think and is jacking it all in for a few quid and a shot at the Prem where, if they get there, I think they’d sign someone to play instead of him
@OSIBPODMAG Seems mental to me that he’d leave a club where he’s playing regular football, is a senior figure in the dressing room and no doubt respected throughout the club, all for a few quid but could be bench warming in 12-24 months when they spend big on a replacement should they go up
@OSIBPODMAG We might never know what been offered, but if McNally is on 20k (online) and he’s been offered the same and turned it down, then all the “love for the club” that will inevitably be written in his departure post will be pretty worthless as if we got up, I think he’d start for us?
@BristolCityFM Think this is a decent option - bit of arse-covering in case someone picks up Mehmeti in January and, even though it looks like West Ham have an option for an extra year, might stand us in good stead as a replacement for Anis if he goes in the summer which he probably will
@bcfcpezza Just thinking about it another way after seeing West Ham have an option for another year on his contract - maybe it’s a bit of arse covering in case someone comes in for Mehmeti in January. Shame WHU might activate option to squeeze a few quid out of us
@bcfcpezza Agreed totally. If there’s a loan with an option to buy, which we would/should then use if Mehmeti doesn’t sign, I see it as genuinely good business with a bit of future proofing involved, and it’s a player who we are already aware of his ability. Don’t really see a downside
@crobbyg@bcfcpezza His moaning drives me mad, and refs wise up to his BS eventually. He’s not a great athlete either in my opinion - lacks that yard of pace, dallies on the ball and is arguably our most frustrating player when he’s off it with Mehmeti a close second
@jack_buchanan_ Depends what the deal is for me. If it’s a loan with an option to buy, which we can then make use of if Mehmeti won’t sign new deal, then that seems a pretty sensible option and decent business for us
