PhD student at @UoNHistory researching UK foreign policy/diplomacy at the end of the Cold War & beyond, funded by @Midlands4Cities // Managing Editor @Sino_NK
A belated thank-you to @BATW_tweets for a wonderful conference in Pittsburgh! After three days of tourism in Boston and three days of rest at home, I realised I should post something about it - wonderful time, wonderful people, wonderful city. See y'all in Winchester next year!
Finally home after a wonderful week at the British School at Rome.
I won't forget the sights, I won't forget the city, and I definitely won't forget how my legs feel after 270,000 steps this week. But most of all, I won't forget the friends I made along the way. Thanks guys.
Another CHaPS session is coming up this week: We're thrilled to welcome @Luke_Thrumble, who will talk about the 1950 UN occupation of North Korea.
As usual, Friday 4pm at @UoNHumanities A1 and Teams. Email, comment, or DM us for more details.
And if you should ever find yourself in College Station, the Bush Library is excellent - would have been well worth a visit even if I wasn't there for research!
PhD Day 115: 5 years ago I had lunch here at King's Cross before my first archive trip, for my undergrad dissertation on Korea.* Today I'm here again, but now en route to Heathrow and then ๐ค Texas๐ค for the first research trip (& conference!) of a much bigger project. Time flies!
Very pleased to finally be able to share the updated PGR Seminar Series programme here at @LeedsUniHistory! Lots of rescheduling and new talks added since I last shared it. Open to all staff and students and can be attended online too! Please share widely. DM for text version.
Finally found the time to pull out a couple of clips from my appearance on @URN1350's fantastic politics show last month - here's one on the question of our future relations with China
Time to get out your diaries: We're delighted to announce our programme for this term๐ข Fortnightly on Fridays 4pm @UoNHumanities A1 and on Teams, starting on 3 Feb. DM, comment, or email us for more info. See you next week ๐
I hope whoever redacted this particular CIA document from 1991 was very pleased with themselves when they whipped out that "approved for release" stamp
Don't forget about our final panel of the semester, happening this lunch time!
