Today’s joint press conference brought organizers together across NYS to call for carceral reforms. We must pass the CARE Act, sentencing and parole reform, protect family visits and basic rights for people. With just two weeks left we must see REAL change and create safety.
DOCCS wanted real reform by expanding merit time to most people in prison. Hochul wants less. #CommunitiesNotCages' Earned Time Act delivers what New Yorkers need: healing, safety, and a path home for all people in prison. Read: https://t.co/dEV3pyk9pJ
@albanymuskrat@friendsoflukee@NYWFP I am sorry for the decision I made in the past. I can’t take back my actions, all I can do is pour into the community as I was a part of causing it harm. I have been making public apologies since getting home and will continue to do so.

@NYWFP supports candidates like me who are fighting every day for working people. Affordable housing, accessible childcare, real public safety and jobs that pay a living wage shouldn't be luxuries. But the reality is that we need leaders who will fight for people like us.

HAPPENING NOW: Lawmakers, survivors of prison guard brutality and abuse, and families of incarcerated people are rallying in the NY Capitol to demand an end to prison guard brutality, full implementation of the HALT Solitary Law, and pathways home for incarcerated people.
#FromTheSouth News Bits | In an exclusive interview with teleSUR, Lukee Papa Forbos, Executive Director of "We Are Revolutionary" said his organization is seeking social justice for his community and the world.
Despite support from literally everyone - homeless & tenant groups, service providers & even real estate - @GovKathyHochul chose not to spend a single cent on helping the more than 100k homeless NYers get into stable housing
Simply put, she hates poor people.
@SenatorCCleare@SenatorRJackson@NeighborhoodDef The current system that allows prosecutors to silence the voices of the member of our communities. Clean Slate taught us that people should have second chances. But even if your conviction is sealed you still don’t have a right to serve on a jury. @LukeeForbes
On good cause eviction, one source tells me concessions include:
- exemption for rents 200% of fair market rent
- 30 yr exemption for new construction
- owner-occupied buildings of 8 units or less, and those landlords with a 10 unit portfolio exempt
- opt-in for municipalities
Right now, NY law bars anyone with a felony conviction from serving on a jury, no matter the offense or when it happened.
Because people of color-especially Black people-are over-criminalized and incarcerated, NY's jury ban overwhelmingly bars people of color from jury service.
This is a slap in the face to tenants.
This would be the weakest #GoodCause in the country, denying hundreds of thousands of renters basic protections from predatory landlords.
@GovKathyHochul, @AndreaSCousins, and @CarlHeastie: this is a giveaway to real estate.
