An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training.

In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table.

The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. The final remains scheduled for Saturday 23 May, with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

@danamalt How can we be so proud of failure? We spend more time than anyone in the top 2 yet we finished 5th. We need to stop accepting failure and maybe we would actually push on and do what we should have done this season

@SCOLLLLL All 5 aren’t good enough for a team fighting for automatics in my opinion. Maybe Strelec if we actually play around him but the others have shown not to be good enough imo

@SCOLLLLL I agree somewhat but that doesn’t mean Conway is good enough, our “number 9” playing left wing and missing sitters everyweek. They can ALL not be good enough imo. We should be signing proper players to get us promoted

@SCOLLLLL We have literally got the same result from the league as Pompey/Charlton etc. Why are we playing our number “9” on the left wing? I think if we played our players in their actual positions we may have scored more goals yes

@SCOLLLLL Conway basically starts every game and we are massively underperforming on our XG, the stats don’t lie. If we had a real number 9 who didn’t play on the left wing we would probably be promoted by now. Instead we are spending another season in the championship

The reason we’ve fallen short again is not because Southampton had an analyst spying on us, and if you’re hoping the EFL will send us to the final you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.
