Nassim Taleb on Bitcoin, in his own words:
"a business that will never make any money - and its only value is what you can sell it for to someone else."
a Ponzi has no absorbing barrier. this does.
"the minute it reaches a plateau, it's dead."
gold doesn't die. you leave it in the dirt, it's still gold.
"the only thing that is infallible is a deity."
so if it can't fail - that's theology, not finance.

@AucklandIsland She's well misinformed. Following pattern recognition, and fooled by the triangulation of narratives. My Mum is the same - extremely well read, detailed historical knowledge, following current events, parroting establishment talking points.
@Martina Bessent is by far the most arrogant person I've ever seen. Cold and cruel. He revels in destruction and suffering. Not a modicum of humanity. Congress found him to be suitably qualified for the second most important role in the government.
@PronouncedHare The government ≠ the people
The government ≠ taxpayers
In theory the government works for all the people, not just billionaires and Waiheke holiday home owners. Both taxpayers and those who don't pay taxes because of "tax efficiency".
It's okay to criticise the government.
@Julie_nzkiwi Is there a problem with this?
Lynda Topp can say what she likes.
Or are you planning to cancel freedom of speech?
Wouldn't surprise me.
Fascist.
@JosephMooneyMP You've been doing nasty things, people can see that. We've heard the words - bottom feeders, get a marmite sandwich. School lunches. Disrespect and disregard. Don't expect positivity from the public when your government threatens their wellbeing.
