We have lost a remarkable leader in Dikembe Mutombo, whose impact reached far beyond the basketball court. In 2019, we honored him at @TheKingCenter with the Yolanda D. King Higher Ground Award for his incredible work with The Dikembe Mutombo Foundation and his dedication to improving the lives of so many. His legacy of service and compassion will continue to inspire generations. My prayers are with his family and all who loved him. Rest in power, my brother.

#refugees as well as #sudan|ese people have been #displaced (again) from the fighting in #khartoum, with many arriving into camps in white nile and gedaref

today, for both refugees with #storm-damaged houses and new arrivals to the camp, we started distributions of #emergency #shelter kits for 1,000 families in tenedbah camp, where we were already helping people who fled from western #tigray

hundreds of thousands of refugees are still encamped in these states, funding was v short even before the current civil war, so now continuing basic services may be jeopardised

-

(ps, today one of the new arrivals I met in the camp today was one of my favourite waitstaff from ozone cafe in khartoum … she had been sleeping in a communal shelter with her elderly mother for the past month … :( )
