It's not a plot hole but this is me rambling because I'm somewhat upset. Cyrene's whole role, theme, character just doesn't sit well with what hoyo tried to do with amphoreus. She felt very rushed, out of nowhere, and just fell flat in term of emotional depth compared to other heirs. I never understood the insistence on her relationship with the trailblazer. While I understand the trailblazer was a unique case she wanted help from, there were still many other ways hoyo could've written Cyrene differently. if there was one person she should've been in contact with, it was phainon.

The reason the ending felt incomplete is precisely because Cyrene's writing in itself was flawed. It had no emotional depth or drive to conclude the story. They tried to give her screen time to amend the lack of character development, but that ended up taking time from actual lore and other important stuff creating so many plotholes and discarding other heirs. They wanted to make her personality and theme aligne with elysia from honkai impact, which fell so flat. It worked with honkai impact because Cyrene was the main character of that plotline (she was the phainon to the flame chasers) She represented humanity and human love in a world of robots and viruses which was why she had the romantic personality and the wedding themes. It worked with that story. In amphoreus, that doesn't make sense. She just feels weirdly out of nowhere, characters are dying and she's making poems about love.

Phainon's conclusion is tragic. It felt like he's the only character who actually suffered till the end and got no closure. He was the main character in amphoreus (Some people will argue it was the trailblazer or cyrene, some might say there's no main character) But I still believe Phainon was the character who drove amphoreus story forward. He's the core element of what amphoreus stood for. He's the opposite of Cyrene ironically. And yet they ended his story so abruptly. He was discarded in a sense. We never got to see any satisfying conclusion to his suffering and he never got to be in peace (making a sad ending doesn't equal good writing, they could've made his ending sad and still gave closure to both the reader and the character)

The other heirs were just forgotten in a sense? As in, every previous cycle we had were just forgotten? it's so jarring how so many characters were just "deleted" and instead of showing us what truly the impact of this was, Cyrene spent the whole time talking to herself.

Can we talk about the whole Irontomb war and how we just never got to see how it impacted others? Before I could tell what happened Irontomb was already "gone", it felt like everything we went through was for nothing. It fell flat.
