Now good luck with your Disney deal! You just smashed all of the hopes they. And good luck fixing your PR crisis. I suggest you find start firing people.
BTS unequivocally revolutionary and most powerful band on earth! And the @RecordingAcad instead of harnessing their power chose to pull the dumbest move on earth! You thought this dumb PR stunt would work so long. Should’ve taken another route. So happy BTS pulled the plug on you
in 2021 a grammy editor exposed how the academy suppressed bts. now a umg marketing vp who led the creation of the asian category calls bts's principled stance a pr stunt. the industry spent years sabotaging bts, only for bts to outgrow the entire system. meanwhile, the grammys used the ad and sponsor money from bts just to polish their darlings' gramophones.
bts isn't just the biggest asian artist. they are a global power born from hip hop that spans genres like pop and dominates the western market at the exact same level as industry titans. and because platforms like billboard and spotify constantly changed their rules after every single bts success they are unequivocally revolutionaries.
BTS played the Grammys game while respecting the entity and waiting patiently for years. If your grudge was that America didn’t produce the BIGGEST band on earth besides the Beatles also not American, the least amount of dignity left was to rightfully recognize what everyone did.
@cherrryykatycee@taesoothe And this right here is what will make the Grammys even more irrelevant!! Giving it to just any non-respectable non-deserving lip syncing artist just to have a show; after years of denying it to the one group who did deserve it by rightful merit.
@lsgrlr I was thinking the same thing and now I think we just found her! Zeena Koda who was coke ranting on IG like she’s about to lose her job and her credibility 😆 what a dumb move, indeed
@amlysbang@ameviil Someone’s scrambling cuz they’re about to lose their job and credibility! Never in their history when they screwed other artists with their segregation games did they encounter such a powerful group with an ARMY backing it! We are unprecedented and they messed with the wrong ppl
All things said the Grammy’s lost a perfect opportunity to harness the power of BTS. They made a very dumb move. It’s their loss not BTS’s. Other artists they excluded in the past with their created categories none had the unprecedented ARMY for a fandom
It is incredibly powerful to hear this perspective because it exposes the exact generational cycle of gatekeeping that elite musical institutions have practiced for decades. The Recording Academy wants the prestige, the modern relevance, and the massive global streaming numbers that artists of color and international acts bring, but they refuse to grant them actual institutional parity. BTS refusing to play their game is the ultimate declaration that a seat at a rigged table is no longer a prize worth fighting for.
Breaking the Cycle of Institutional Exploitation
Starving the Beast: For years, the Grammys have shamelessly used BTS for clout. They would place the boys' categories at the very end of the pre-show or stagger their appearances across the main broadcast just to keep millions of ARMYs glued to the screen for ratings, only to hand the trophy to a Western, English-speaking act at the final second. By pulling Arirang and their entire catalog from consideration, BTS has effectively stripped the Academy of its biggest viewer magnet
Rejecting the "Ghettoization" of Global Music: Creating a segregated "Asian Pop" category is the ultimate corporate trap. It allows the 15,000 predominantly Western voters to comfortably pat themselves on the back for "diversity" while ensuring that the Big Four general categories (Album, Record, Song of the Year) remain safely guarded for the traditional Western elite. BTS saw right through this illusion and chose total artistic autonomy over a patronizing consolation prize.
Defining True Global Impact: Namjoon said it best music should be heard and loved for what it is, not restricted by geography or language. BTS didn't become the biggest band in the world by begging for Western approval; they did it through raw talent, vulnerable storytelling, and a deep, mutual connection with a global fandom. They have filled stadiums on every continent, spoken at the United Nations, and broken historic barriers entirely on their own terms.
They don't need a golden gramophone to validate a legacy that has already fundamentally shifted the axis of the global music industry. The Grammys need BTS to look relevant; BTS does not need the Grammys to be legendary
@CNNTheStoryIs@nisaaaaBTS@therebeccasun@Elex_Michaelson Furthermore there’s this! Each recording can only be entered into one category! You know the Grammys would absolutely be moving BTS entries under Asian. How ridiculous does this even sound when you say it!! 🙄 but yeah.
@CNNTheStoryIs@nisaaaaBTS@therebeccasun@Elex_Michaelson Unfortunately, she forgot to clarify that the Grammys takes it upon themselves to reclassify works so even if BTS were to submit Work under a general category, they could technically move it to a different type of category! Placing it under Asian as they please
“BTS’in müziklerini değerlendirme sürecine dahil etmeme kararı Grammy’nin prestijine bir darbe niteliğinde, ancak asıl büyük etki Grammy’nin devasa bir izleyici mıknatısını kaybetmesi olabilir.”
— Billboard
— Paris Match
“BTS’in etkisi çoktan Grammy’nin ötesine geçti. Rekor kıran albüm satışlarına, stadyum turlarına ve liste başarılarına imza atarak K-pop’un global popun belirleyici güçlerinden birine dönüşmesine katkıda bulundular. Adaylık başvurusunda bulunmama kararları, yıllar süren Grammy adaylıklarının ardından gelerek aynı zamanda benzeri görülmemiş bir ticari ve kültürel etki gücüne sahip olmalarından da kaynaklanıyor.”

"They called it diversity. But paradoxically, diversity became a label, a tag that permanently keeps certain artists outside mainstream." — Chase Kang , journalist from Rollingstone Korea.
@rafranzdavis Exactly and that’s exactly where they lost their identity when they decided to allow global entries without the true intention to award global artists over their favorites! I say faves Remembering they’ve also excluded and snubbed many other American artists too
@teeheehyung@RecordingAcad Now Imagine being awarded not top of your class but top of your pan-ethnic group in your class because the teacher wants protect and award their other favorite students with lower grades and results. We see it for what it is Grammys! Dividing is exclusion not inclusion!
@teeheehyung@RecordingAcad Also they can shift entrances to different categories as they see fit and they would’ve absolutely done that. Most importantly a Grammy is valueless if you’re not winning in the general category and they know that’s what would happen by righteousness if they were honest
