Everyone saw the video of the Satanic prayer at the Ottumwa City Council meeting, but did you see what happened right after the guy stepped away from the mic? Pastor Rick Bick, who was in attendance, wasn't about to let someone pray to Satan and speak a curse over his city. He immediately stood up and confronted the guy right there in the aisle:

“I stopped him, and I said, ‘Did you just say 'hail Satan?' And he went into this, ‘Yeah, and if you can say ‘in the name of Jesus,’ I can say ‘hail Satan.’ And I said, ‘No, you can't do that here, you got to go.’ [Then] he virtually ran out of the building.

I just stood up and challenged everything... I said, 'He just put a curse on our city, and we need to stop and just reverse it right now.'

One city council member, after he started the prayer, walked out of the meeting… In the city, even non-religious people, they're up in arms. They're saying, ‘No, who prays to Satan? Who does that?’ And so, it's caused a lot of things on the local level.”

My campaign requested public records from MaineHousing about North Haven Sustainable Housing's application for an $840,000 state loan program. Here's what came back.

While Hannah Pingree was serving as a senior state official, directing the Governor's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, she was also Board President of NHSH and part of the leadership team with authority over the project.

NHSH was competing against other applicants. It appears to have walked away with the entire $840,000.

MaineHousing knew exactly who she was. The application itself highlighted her state government role and her housing policy experience as reasons NHSH should be funded

So where is her conflict of interest disclosure? NHSH's own rules require directors to disclose conflicts. The file MaineHousing gave us contains only a blank form. No completed disclosure. No recusal on record.

And NHSH started spending before final approval, expecting MaineHousing to reimburse it later.

Mainers deserve straight answers:

Did Hannah Pingree ever disclose this conflict?
Did she step back from any decisions?
Why did a nonprofit led by a top state official get the whole pot?

When you hold power in Augusta, the rules should apply to you first. As Governor, I’ll end these kind of special deals.

Hannah Pingree wants this race to be about abortion. I understand why. It's easier than defending her record.

But I've sat down with mothers, retirees, and women who own businesses in every corner of this state, and here is what I hear.

In Bangor, moms tell me they worry about needles on the sidewalk when they take their kids downtown to the Maine Discovery Museum. In Portland, women tell me they can't keep up with the cost of housing and their property tax bills. In Caribou, they worry about whether there will be jobs for their children as they watch their downtown shrink. In Fort Kent, they tell me how far they have to drive for basic health care. In Lewiston, they show me electric bills that keep climbing while Augusta takes its cues from solar and wind industry lobbyists.

These problems did not happen by accident. They happened under Janet Mills and Hannah Pingree. Maine families are paying the price for their decisions, and no amount of changing the subject will change that.

I have a plan. Raise the homestead exemption so you pay less in property tax. Suspend the gas tax immediately. End the needle giveaways. We can do this. We don’t have to live this way.

Tonight, I asked Hannah Pingree and Rick Bennett to join me in calling on Janet Mills to suspend Maine’s gas tax and give Mainers some much-needed relief as we head into another cold winter.

They didn’t. Remember that.
