There is a tidy version of John Healey. St Peter's School, York. Christ's College, Cambridge. Twenty nine years in Parliament. Now the Chancellor, signing the cheques, setting the budget, deciding what you are allowed to keep.
There is another version. It is not tidy.
In 1997 he took a Rotherham seat. For the sixteen years that followed, in the streets he represented and the schools he walked past, fourteen hundred girls were being passed around by men the state had quietly decided not to notice. Some of them twelve. One was doused in petrol and told to burn if she talked.
He was their MP. He had a seat, a voice, a vote, and the standing to make a noise. He made none.
In 2012 the Times finally broke it and demanded an inquiry. His own website still carries the verdict. He had an open mind. He was "not convinced this would help the abused girls."
Not convinced. Fourteen hundred of them. One of the few men in the country who could have forced the truth out, and he wanted more time.
Then he sued the woman who said so.
A UKIP MEP, Jane Collins, accused him and two colleagues of knowing and doing nothing. They took her to court and won. Fifty four thousand pounds each. Healey pocketed his. He did not give it to the girls. He kept it. He had been called out for inaction and he turned it into income.
The pattern held. Forty thousand pounds from two donors whose addresses the register lists only as "private," while he lectured Farage on secret money. His own council tax, on his own second home, unpaid, an administrative error, and he meant to claim the fifteen hundred back from you while his party took the winter fuel payment from millions of pensioners.
Then, in June, he resigned as Defence Secretary with a letter that buried Keir Starmer. Six weeks later Starmer was gone. Burnham moved in. And Burnham made Healey Chancellor.
The knife went in. The chair was warm. The reward was the Treasury.
Now he wants to tax the banks, because a war abroad has emptied the purse and the IMF has told him to cut spending instead. He has run out of other people's money and he is going through the City's sofa cushions.
Meanwhile the legacy gathers dust. The Child Trust Fund, his idea, one point six billion pounds of children's own money left to rot in forgotten accounts while the City takes a hundred million a year in fees. Housing, where he decided families renting rather than owning was "a good thing." A children's charity he vouched for, whose founder was later convicted of child sexual abuse. In Rotherham. Of course.
The girl who was twelve is thirty seven now. She lives with it every day.
He was not convinced her rape was worth an inquiry.
And now he decides how much of your money you keep.
That is the Chancellor.
Meet Mamadou Ndoye, a criminal illegal from Mali. Previously detained by ICE, then released by a federal judge.
Mamadou’s track record:
- Assault
- Recklessly endangering
- Third-degree counterfeiting
- Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
- Criminal sale of narcotics
- Possessing a controlled substance
- Possession of marijuana for sale
- Making false reports to law enforcement and resisting arrest
Today he was arrested while yelling “F*CK YOU ASSHOLE” at NYPD on Canal St. Can anyone, including @NYCMayor, explain how having these people on the streets makes NYC a safer place?
Seriously??? This is not a game, this is not just about creating footage for socials. You are supposed to be running our country you are just a horrible joke, both of you. An expensive (for taxpayers) joke @Ed_Miliband@JohnHealey_MP
We owe £3 trillion. We spend more on working-age benefits than we raise in income tax. Our social security budget is five times our actual security budget. And these two are pretending to be gap-year vloggers in Bangkok.
@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK@andyburnham An imaginary influence and interference by Russia meanwhile entire councils and local governments across the UK have been wholy compromised by an influence much more powerful… but lets not discuss that.
Of course he name drops an obscure Italian-American communist who was against America's participation in World War 2 and was investigated by the FBI for his ties to the international communist party.
Of all the great men and women of Italian descent who've contributed to New York City and the United States, this is the idiot he picks.
He is physically incapable of being anything other than a loathsome propagandist for communism.
As the most prominent Italian-American in city government, please allow me to formally disinvite you from ever mentioning Italian heritage ever again.
And yes, we Italians came here to work, create businesses, dig the subways, build the buildings -- and it was indeed a struggle. A struggle a rich kid like Zohran could never know. But we didn't ask for any handouts. There was no welfare, millions of us came here knowing there was only ourselves, our work, and our community -- and we thrived. We wanted to become Americans, and our people were proud to learn the language and wave the American flag.
And when the time came, millions of Italian-Americans returned to Europe to fight World War 2, my father included. Many of them had to fight their own former countrymen in Mussolini's Italy. And they did exactly that, because they were nothing less than Americans.
Quite the opposite of the current immigrant situation championed by people like Zohran, where we invite lazy and entitled foreigners to loot the treasury without asking anything in return, as they resentfully fly the flags of their own nations -- and could never be counted on to defend America.
My mother was a widow who raised five children on her own, working in a button factory. We didn't take a penny of government assistance. We relied on ourselves. It was hard work, but we did it, and we were grateful. And today I sit on the City Council, representing the very neighborhood I grew up in.
That's what being an Italian-American in New York means. Not the communist propaganda Zohran is pushing here.
It's about hard work, independence, heritage, and most importantly, pride in being an American above all else.
Had it not been for Boris Johnson and Victoria Nuland -- who personally forced Zelensky to reject the deal Ukraine and Russia were about to sign in Istanbul in 2022 -- this horrific war that has killed more than a million and consumed much of Ukraine would have been long over.
EXCLUSIVE: Tan Ikram, deputy chief magistrate, is an adviser to a Pakistani organisation that referred to “so-called ‘grooming gangs’” and called Suella Braverman’s comments about British-Pakistani gangs “reprehensible”.
My investigation reveals:
• He targeted Bradford to encourage Pakistani lawyers to become judges: “[Bradford has] lots and lots of Pakistani practitioners… I specifically went there to reach out to that particular group of lawyers.”
• He is listed as an adviser to the British Pakistan Foundation, which attacked Braverman over her grooming-gang comments and condemned the “collective punishment of the Palestinians” following October 7. Ikram spared three women punishment for a terrorism offence involving paraglider images.
• Grooming gang survivor Fiona Goddard called his association with the foundation “deeply concerning”, asking: “Why is a senior judge connected to such a partisan group?”
• He helped organise a meeting between judges and senior imams at the Old Bailey.
• He sits on the Judicial Appointments Commission and has helped edit the guidance judges use on race and cultural differences.
• He said he used his ethnicity as “a bit of an advantage” in his legal career. He also said his mother “today doesn’t really speak English”, despite coming to Britain in the early 1960s.
I’ve examined his speeches, interviews, links to Pakistani and Muslim groups and rulings.

John Major, 1993: “Fifty years on from now, Britain will still be the country of long shadows on county grounds, warm beer, invincible green suburbs, dog lovers, and—as George Orwell said—old maids bicycling to Holy Communion through the morning mist”
33 years on and we’re denying it ever existed.
Welcome to the UK's "justice" system:
Danny Tommo
> damaged a migrant invader boat
> DENIED BAIL
5 terror suspects
> bomb plot against US Air Force
> RELEASED ON BAIL
RAF base terror suspects released on bail. Danny Tommo remanded, behind bars, yet these men are free to walk.
I am absolutely astonished. It is a disgrace.
A Restore Britain Government will crush our two-tier justice system and legally pursue those responsible.
In a brilliant essay in The Sunday Times, Matthew Syed writes the following: “If extremism is defined as acting out of proportion with context, history or consent, I suggest Merkel’s tenure represented the high point of postwar European extremism.”
I agree with Syed’s analysis. But there is one aspect of Merkel’s legacy to which we need to pay particular attention.
In Merkel’s own country, Germany, the political centre is collapsing. Nationwide opinion polls suggest that the three establishment parties that rebuilt Germany after the Second World War now command the support of only around a third of the electorate between them.
Nor is Germany the only country where the political centre is collapsing. The same is happening in France - a development that puts the future of the centre at issue in next year’s presidential election.
In my view, Angela Merkel bears a grave responsibility for the collapse of the centre and the growing ability of the political extremes to set the agenda.
The almost one-third of voters who would support Alternative für Deutschland in a national election are not fascists or Nazis. A substantial proportion are disillusioned CDU voters.
What has disappointed these voters? First, what I see as Merkel’s failures on so many fronts: immigration. Security. Energy. A sustainable strategy for business and economic growth. Digitalisation. Infrastructure maintenance. The list is almost endless.
Second, the extraordinary denial of reality that, in my assessment, Merkel allowed to take hold when it came to immigrants’ responsibility for antisemitism, violence against women, terrorism and gang crime.
Coming from Denmark, where we have reliable statistics on all these matters, I find it frankly shocking to listen to the nonsense coming from Germany’s political elite.
But I would also trace back to Merkel the rise of what is often called “Islamo-leftism” - a tendency that has recently gained ground in Sweden and is also growing in Germany. In Sweden, polls have indicated that 85 per cent of Muslim voters support parties to the left of centre, with almost one in five supporting the Left Party, Vänsterpartiet - a party tainted by antisemitism and the glorification of terrorism. I see no compelling reason to assume that the pattern in Germany is fundamentally different.
My argument, then, is that it is not only the rise in support for the AfD that can be traced back to Merkel. The same applies to the growing support for parties on the German left that promote the political and religious views of a significant proportion of the people, Merkel invited to Germany. Not least on the Gaza question.
Merkel’s role in Europe’s political destabilisation deserves far closer scrutiny.
We need to discuss this openly and honestly. Otherwise, we cannot understand why the political centre is collapsing in so many countries today.
@hbecerraLATimes The city is struggling because it keeps electing people like her and Bass. They are the ones in charge right now! And you at the @latimes keep lionizing them.
It's the definition of insanity cliche - except it's not cliche here.
Let’s look at the timeline…
➟ We start an investigation and ask Mayor Bass to testify.
➟ She says she’s “unavailable.”
➟ She quits a few days later from the LAHSA governing commission.
➟ DOJ arrests people in LA relating to fraud with homeless services funds.
➟ LAHSA throws in the towel and decides they no longer want to receive federal funding.
This doesn’t end here. Mayor Karen Bass must testify.
Americans deserve accountability from everyone who looked the other way while their money went to fraudsters.
That's £11.76m for 630 school days
that's £18,667 for each school day
If we say one ride is £30
That would imply that Sandeep Cars billed for 622 trips for every single school day in that period
there is so much fraud in the UK
we do not need higher taxes, we need a clampdown on waste & fraud
Warwickshire County Council’s own payment files show £11.76m paid to Sandeep Cabs for taking children and young people to school and college between 16 January 2023 and 29 April 2026.
This is the council transport system used by eligible pupils, including children with SEND.
The files contain 5,297 payment rows. They combine SEND and mainstream journeys, so they do not show how much of that published total was specifically for SEND transport.
After an FOI request, WCC confirmed that the legal payee was SANDEEP CABS LIMITED. Its latest accounts report an average of seven employees, including directors.
WCC also disclosed 247 distinct contract references worth £4.31m in 2025/26 alone.
It says its current contracts with the company were awarded through its taxi and private-hire purchasing system. Asked which corporate subcontractors or delivery operators were recorded against those contracts, it answered: “N/A”.
That does not mean only seven people delivered the work. The accounts figure is not a count of drivers or vehicles, and self-employed drivers or other non-corporate arrangements may have been involved.
But the scale deserves a clear public explanation: how did WCC assess operating capacity, safeguarding and value for money across this volume of school and college transport work?
No independently attributable company website, email address or social-media account surfaced in our searches. WCC’s public operator directory lists only a mobile number.
That is a remarkably limited public footprint for a company linked to £11.76m in published school and college transport payments.
1 week later…
