1964- Jean Mottram worked in the Secretariat in Lusaka, N R from May 1956 to Dec 1965. In October, The 2 doors of the Secretariat had 2 bronze shields which were removed and replaced by the new Zambian ones following Independence Day. He took the Shield @LusakaMuseum 😲🤷♂️

Today in #history: Southern Rhodesia forces bombed and destroyed Chambeshi bridge missing a TAZARA train by 10mins in 1979. The military intervention was to prevent rebels in #Zambia from invading S.Rhodesia.
The debris can be seen on request when viewing the #TAZARA exhibition.

On 8th October 1983, freedom fighter, politician, family man and business man, #harrymwaangankumbula was laid to rest.
His old car, a replica of the cage as well as other personal effects call #LusakaMuseum home.
We have an exhibition on the second floor detailing the Mailoni Brothers evolution from humble beginnings to murderous trio. Only K10 to get in and that includes a request for a guide!
