As someone who followed the Slashdot drama unfold in the late ’90s: Microsoft’s Visual J++ was their “embrace and extend” version of Java. Sun sued over the proprietary extensions breaking “write once, run anywhere” and won a settlement.
Microsoft pivoted, with Anders Hejlsberg’s team evolving the J++/.NET work into the COOL project → C#. It was explicitly built as a better Java for the .NET world (managed OO model + C++ influences).
I wasn’t a fan of the tactics back then, but C# has matured impressively in its own right—I’ve preferred it wherever possible for the last decade+.
Final verdict: Pedantically, C# is not a direct derivative of Java. Practically? Definitely. It wouldn’t exist in anything like its current form without the Java rivalry and J++ fallout.
“Japan isn’t Muslim friendly” complains this lady.
When I visit Muslim countries I can’t drink alcohol and eat pork so why should I care how you feel in Japan? https://t.co/Yn9eHjj2gq
I get it, man. Any normal person knows this already. Learn from this though...
The original post with the wrong picture was simple engagement farming, and you fell for it hook-line-and-sinker.
I watched it happen in real-time this morning. You gave it oxygen. You fucked up.
Next time, just say flat-out "That's not real, you're retarded, so is anyone else that believes this. Low-effort engagement farming.".
Then just go about your day as if it didn't happen.
Its so crazy how out of touch this guy is. He has held public office for 51 YEARS, so maybe that's not surprising. He's never had a real job. Every poor person and person of color has an ID cuz we HAVE TO. So who is he the hero for? Democrats can't count on blacks and poor white folk anymore, so they wanna import your replacements.
@elonmusk I dunno how many times, but I'd bet my last dollar that Europe is gonna end up with another *REALLY* popular guy (possibly with a funny mustache) willing to go to extreme measures to correct the problem. And it will be very bad. Generationally so, the longer this continues.
RE: Insurrection Act
(OK, let me put my helmet and body armor on before I post this because I know I am about to get swarmed with incoming.)🪖
I know so many of you want Walz and Frey arrested on federal charges. I get it. I feel ya.
I know so many of you want Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act tonight and send in the 82nd. I get it. I feel ya.
But the truth is, I am really happy Trump is being circumspect on both things at the moment, because I think it’s really smart.
As a casual student of Trump, I believe he has a tiered set of priorities that he rigorously sticks to. Top priority? MAGA. Second priority? Get Vance elected in ’28. Third priority? Win the midterms.
Trump will always order his priorities and act on the most important ones. In this case, I believe Trump’s team has deeply effective private polling that shows the following:
1. Despite the media, a majority of Americans blame Democrat politicians and their web of brownshirt goons and useful idiots for the violence. (Unlike 2020.)
2. The longer this goes on, the more people who will blame the Democrats.
3. Trump is viewed positively currently by a majority as using measured strength.
4. However, if Trump invokes the Insurrection Act and/or arrests Walz/Frey, the polls flip dramatically against Trump. The Dems become sympathetic and Trump is seen as starting a civil war.
If #4 occurs, Trump loses the mid-terms, likely loses the ’28 Presidency for Vance and the nation is lost. (Look at what happened in Virginia in mere days after a Dem takeover. That’s what we’ll see nationally.)
For this reason, I believe Trump is prudently showing restraint in the present moment.
Admittedly, the landscape could shift at any moment and FORCE Trump to take those measures, but for the moment his restraint seems correct.
Also, part of his plan may be to invoke the Insurrection Act the day after he wins the midterms, and then he has 2 years to prove it was the correct move.😉
