Could you be entitled to Pension Credit?
Make sure you’re getting what you’re entitled to.
If you get Pension Credit you’ll also get other help such as the Winter Fuel Payment so it’s worth applying even if you don’t think you’ll get much.

Cost-of-living pressures aren’t easing.
High energy and housing costs are pushing people deeper into a negative budget - where their income doesn’t cover their essentials.
Among the people we help, private renters and mortgage holders are especially deep in the red 🧵
Huge thanks to everyone for your generous donations as always. This week we are short of:
Tinned Spaghetti
Tinned tomatoes
Tinned Veg
Tinned Fruit
Tinned Meat
Tinned Custard

Thank you all
⚠️ By the end of September, we’d already helped more people who can’t top up their prepayment meter this year than we did for all of 2022.
And 2022 was higher than the previous 10 years combined.

🧵 No one should have to recycle a tea bag to have a cup of tea. ☕💚
Yet @EL_Foodbank saw a lady who's income was so low she was having to re-use the same tea bag 6 times to have a cup of tea.
And across the UK, food banks are telling us similar stories.
Thanks for your Harvest donations! We have received 5.5 tonnes of food and supplies this Harvest-time! We are still short of some items so if you are able to donate we need:
Hot Choc
Crackers
Sweet spreads
Sponge Puds
Tinned Ravioli

🚨 Today we’re sharing the stark news that half of working families claiming Universal Credit ran out of food in the past month.
The lack of proper financial support from the social security system is having a devastating impact on millions of people.
This has to change.
Harvest has started! A huge thanks to everyone who has donated.
If you are wondering what to donate then do choose from our Harvest list (see pic) or from these items:
Instant Mash
Tinned Pulses
Rice
Squash

Please use your voice to support those living in poverty in our communities- it isn’t right that we are providing food for more and more people- over 2,200 parcels this year so far in our area, many people needing our services for the first time
🧵 Millions of people across the UK are going without the essentials because Universal Credit is falling short.
This is driving more people through the doors of food banks.
❌ This isn’t right and it’s time this changed. ❌
It's nice to see the sun. But this heat is real 😓
For those of us taking certain mental health medications, the heat may affect us more. Watch the video to learn more ⬇️
I’ve signed @TrussellTrust and @jrf_uk’s petition, calling on UK political party leaders to ensure the basic rate of Universal Credit covers the cost of life’s essentials. Add your name and join the campaign to guarantee #OurEssentials 👉 https://t.co/XfW6gU750j
More families are turning to food banks just to get by.
But this can change.
The Poverty Strategy Commission Interim Report highlights that we need action from the government, businesses and communities. This must include a social security system that supports us all fully. 💚
It's not right that people on low incomes are more likely to have long-term health conditions.
We need a social security system that provides protection, improves health and ensures everyone can afford the essentials they need to survive. 💚
We’re fighting for a future where no one needs a food bank. 💚
But to get there, a lot needs to change.
What changes do you want to see to make sure no one in the UK is forced to turn to a food bank? Tell us in the comments 👇
