Maybe it’s time to talk about KZN independence.
As a proud Zulu, I’m increasingly asking myself whether KZN should seriously discuss the idea of independence.
I’m tired of watching KZN sink while politicians in Pretoria and Joburg treat us like a voting bloc. We have the busiest port in Africa, Richards Bay, sugar, tourism, factories, fertile land, oil refineries..;and yet our people still queue for water, jobs, houses, and ambulances that never come.
This isn’t about hating other South Africans. It’s about frustration with the direction of this country and the feeling that too many ordinary people are expected to tolerate the same failures year after year.
I’m not saying Zulus are better than anyone. I’m saying KZN deserves better. I’m saying no nation should be forced to drown in a sinking ship because of loyalty to a flag.
Zulu people have a long history of standing up, fighting for their communities and demanding a better future. We should not be afraid to ask uncomfortable questions about our political future.
If South Africa cannot give its people safety, accountability, functioning institutions and genuine economic opportunity, then why should discussions about alternative political arrangements automatically be treated as taboo?
Maybe it’s time for a serious conversation about what KZN wants, what the Zulu nation wants, and what kind of future we actually want for our children.
I’m angry. I’m frustrated. And I’m done pretending everything is fine.
We are told we must stay in a country that can’t stop corruption, can’t create jobs, can’t protect women and children, can’t fix municipalities. We fight every day for a better South Africa. But what do we get? Empty promises.
Let’s have the conversation.
Constitutional change is needed in South Africa.
South Africa can’t keep running an asylum system with no clear limits, no serious planning and no regard for the pressure it places on already strained communities.
Why should asylum seekers travel thousands of kilometres to South Africa when safer neighbouring countries may
Let me say this one more time, South Africans, we have no reason to wait until 2029. The ANC and DA needs to vacate the Union Buildings as of yesterday
