Hi Ying, I have seen this sign at school too. You are making a very good point/observation. Although this is suppose to be a clear prohibition it can be very confusing. I think that if the sign did not have a picture of a cigarette and the no symbol it will not make sense at all.

On Sunday morning my mom called me and asked me if I can take her to "the outlets." Since I am from San Jose the closest outlets are in Gilroy. So my family and I referred them as The Outlets. #Ling107f22

@KaseyMoon20 Hi Kasey, I think we should teach phonics inside the classroom. It is important for students to make a connection between letters and sounds, as it helps them read tricky words. Also teaching phonics can help ELL students by seeing patterns in spellings. Like Cat, Mat, Hat.

@msortosjsu Hi Melissa, reading your tweet made think of the importance of a symbol. I know that in Spanish when we write a question we use "?" at the end, but we also use it in the beginning of the sentence just upside down. I always wondered why we do not use it in the English language.

@AnneChe74609337 Hi Anne, I also have the same problem. The rulers of grammar can be hard to follow. All I know is that to form a sentence there has to be a subject, a verb, and a object. Hope that helps.

Sunday evening telling my 4 year old "You should clean up the Legos from the floor, someone might get hurt." I know realize I should of used someone "will" get hurt because my sister walked in and stepped on a red Lego. Ouch !! #ling107f22

Someone I admire is a former pre k student I use to work with. Quinn was born with an extra set of chromosomes. Therefore learning to communicate was extra challenging. However she learned sign language and can now speak a few words! Truly inspiring #Ling107f22

This weekend I went to Great Wolf Lodge, and inside our room I notice this prohibition. It ask for guest not to hang hangers from the sprinkler, because it will set them off. I found this sign very effective since it tells guest what could happen. #Ling107f22

In my English 112A class I learned about the word arbitrary. Through the whole lecture I though the professor meant aviary. Until she said we are choosing a arbitrary book from the list, and I did not see any books about birds. #Ling107f22

Learning that consonants have two different sounds can be difficult for ELL. In the word CAR the “c” makes a hard /k/ sound. While the word SCIENCE makes a soft /s/ sound. #LING107f22

While doing some grocery shopping I notice that I been pronouncing the word "Brulee" wrong. You are suppose to say "Broolay". I wonder if I am the only one that has been pronouncing this word wrong? #Ling107f22
