You know, starting out as a very, very small streamer that struggled with their numbers for a LONG TIME - the kind that streamed for 9-10 hours a day, 0-2 viewers for probably a little over a year.. learning how to not compare myself to others in a toxic way was something that I initially struggled with hard. I think it's something that A LOT of creators internally struggle with no matter how successful they are - usually not even on purpose.
But honestly? Once you get to that point where you're confident in your content, you're happy with the effort you put in, the quality of what you put out, the process of learning new things, bettering yourself and being proud of yourself. You realize JUST how nice it feels to genuinely be happy for other creators, even if you've never met them before. I see friends hitting goals, I see friends hitting MASSIVE milestones. Friends, mutuals, other creators rapidly shooting past where I'm currently at - and I'm happy and proud of them. They're doing amazing work. They've got killer personalities, they put so much effort into their brand, their content, making sure people feel welcome in their communities.
I see lewdtubers putting out fire content, I see them pumping out NSFW scripts, working on their voice acting. I see other VTubers getting farther into voice acting, setting goals for themselves, working towards them, smashing them. I see content creators in completely different fields than I'm in - at levels that I'm not even apart of. I'm happy for them. Life in general is so much better when you try to uplift others and support them, rather than tearing them down behind their back or silently judging them.
It's been so long since I've looked at somebody doing well and had the thought "oh, they're doing better than me because of insert this", trying to blame their success on some stupid basis like being a woman, being a lewdtuber, doing SW, doing ASMR.
Artists? Riggers? Musicians? Animators? Editors? ALL OF IT. I see your hard work, the LONG hours you work and put in while balancing your own life. You strive to get better, to improve your own craft, all while handling yourself professionally and trying to deliver services to those who need it, like me, in a timely manner. Thank you.
ASMR? Let me tell you. So many people look at ASMR streamers as some sort of easy success path that requires no effort. I got a 3Dio microphone a while ago. I love voice acting. Doing ASMR streams? AT LEAST PERSONALLY? That shit is HARD! It's hard on your vocal chords, it's hard on your body trying to maintain such a quiet demeanor as to not leak into the audio, all while moving from ear to ear to properly do triggers. I did an hour ASMR stream to test the waters and I was genuinely TIRED afterwards. This is coming from somebody who can stream for 10+ hours easily and be EXTREMELY responsive to chat and feel fine afterwards!
Seriously. No matter WHAT type of content you do. As a fellow creator, I am proud of you. Let's smash those goals that you've set for yourself in 2024. Whether you've posted them publicly, or kept them to yourself.
From one little Oni to a big world full of amazing, talented and skilled creators.. I am rooting for you. Let's spread some love and positivity out there.
