I think it absolutely urgent that we define, or rather re-define, what the climate crisis is, and what solutions to it, realistically have to be. By solutions, I am not talking about techno-fixes, but measures to protect the public from future catastrophe. Our governments have seriously misled us and appear to have no realistic plans to deal with what is coming.

2024 and 2025 were record poor harvests in the UK because of climate, 2026 is certain to be, and there are warnings that the expected super El Nino, could trigger food shortages until 2028.

The current framing of climate change and the solutions to it, are fake Net Zero by 2050, which leading climate scientists like Professor Kevin Anderson @KevinClimate , say will produce nothing like Net Zero by 2050. He calls it Not Zero, and calculates that on the basis of this policy, we are looking at 3-4C of warming by the end of the Century.

But we are facing major serious events now, in 2026, not by the end of the Century, and it is far from over, with more heatwaves forecast. It is not a one-off, with exceptionally bad harvests in 2024 and 2025, and the projected Super El Nino, effecting food supply until 2028, with almost certain, far worse conditions to follow.

It is clear that governments have been gaslighting the public about what the climate change situation is, and what real solutions to it are. Just to carry on with pursuing far more economic growth and building data centres which consume massive levels of power, and water to cool them.

I haven't even got onto the collapse of our biodiversity and ecosystems, where a National Security Assessment by UK intelligence chiefs, outline collapsing biodiversity and the collapse of ecosystems between 2030-50, causing global food shortages and general chaos. Whilst governments totally ignore this, pursuing maximum economic growth, pursuing an AI revolution with massive, and damaging data centres. It is all totally incoherent, the public are being misled about the dangers. It appears that governments and mainstream politicians haven't got a clue what they are doing, and see the solution is to gaslight the public and to suppress climate protests, with draconian authoritarian powers they have assumed.

This is why we urgently need clarity about what the climate and ecological crisis actually is, and what realistic solutions and measures to protect society actually are. There is clearly a massive disinformation war, with governments and the media, seriously misleading the public about the situation, as they ignore the science.
