Everyone's talking about the 6% APY. That's the least interesting thing about X Money.

The actual story: two years of quietly stacking money transmitter licenses across 41 states and DC, plus Cross River holding the deposits and Visa Direct moving the funds. New York and Massachusetts still aren't live, and that's a licensing gap, not a product gap.

That's the whole lesson. The yield is customer acquisition cost. The licenses are the moat. One of those you can buy with a term sheet. The other takes two years and a compliance team nobody tweets about.

Anyone can announce 6%. Almost nobody can go live in 41 states.
