@Nanayaw10@HMRCcustomers Terrible service from HMRC today. Wait time 43 mins initially, passed across 4 HMRC staff, simple query about a tax coding. Final HMRC staff member cut call after hearing initial security info claiming he couldn’t hear clearly. When will HMRC staff respect taxpayer time.
@HMRCcustomers I have been in hold to the Collector of Taxes for over 40mins. Don’t think it is acceptable that can’t get through to HMRC by phone to resolve an error as tax being sought is not due. HMRC’s response time to correspondence is weeks, yet HMRC continue to take collection action.
@TimesMoney My experience of HMRC call waiting times much worse than 12 mins. 3 calls to HMRC today, HMRC terminated first, second not answered after 70 mins, got through on 3rd after two hours. Is it fair that HMRC will issue penalty notices if tax returns not filed on time?

@HMRCcustomers Hi, I have a question about the temporary 5% vat rate for a restaurant. If the restaurant makes both eat-in supplies and takeaway supplies, say 70% eat-in and 30% takeaway will the vat rate on takeaway sales of hot food be 5% ? Thanks
@InvestNI@nibusinessinfo For small businesses which are still waiting on the £10k grant, is there anyone they can contact to find out reason for the delay? Hi Have tried the published contact number and been advised they have no info on individual cases.
@HMRCcustomers Hi, re SEISS, I have a client who is worried about how they demonstrate their business has been adversely affected by CV. To date they have been able to trade at normal sales levels but expect a downturn in sales over the next few months. Is their opinion sufficient? Thanks
@HMRCcustomers thanks Steve, just to check, HMRC guidance says “if you cannot maintain your current workforce because your operations have been severely affected by Coro..... but in this case the care home isn’t affected, can the employee still be furloughed? She just doesn’t want to work
@HMRCcustomers Hi I have a client who has been trying to contact the Vat DIY team by phone for five weeks on a very regular basis using phone number 03003227073 and is unable to get through. He has also written to the team but no response. Is there anything else you can suggest? thanks
Initially estimated that 27,000 firms eligible for £10k grant and 4,000 for £25k (but leisure firms later added for £25k).
DfE said last night 16,300 £10k payments made (60%) - means 10,000 still potentially waiting.
As of 5pm last night 1,600 applied for the £25k (est 35-40%).
@HMRCcustomers Hi, for staff who stopped working for an employer after 1 March and are now rehired can the employee be paid an amount for the gap period and reclaimed under JRS and if so is it correct to process in current payroll period or should pay be spread over the gap period? Thanks
@HMRCcustomers If needing to backdate furlough payments due to changes announced today does payroll need to be run every week or can backdated furlough be processed as a lump sum through payroll in one week?
@HMRCcustomers Employee now can b fuloughed if on payroll from 19 March how should this be processed for weekly payroll already finalised for yr end? Can it be processed in one lump sum?
@HMRCcustomers Hi getting through on the HMRC employer helpline today was very difficult. From next week will be processing furlough for up to 5k employees over a number of employers. Please could HMRC extend SA & Employee agents helpline to cover paye for agents? Thanks
@HMRCcustomers How you determine when logged into the government gateway whether an agent access is ‘File only’ or an ‘Paye for agents’ account. Thanks J
