Pip's Tips No7: If you're buying wine on a budget - and at the risk of offending the purists - we'd tend to recommend New World wines over Old World. You will tend to get better value for money, and the quality will probably be more consistent from year to year. #PipsTips

Pip's Tips No6: Christmas! A nut roast should go with any of the wines in the previous tweet: for the white, a Chablis or any oaked Chardonnay, such as a Macon-Villages; and, for a red, a Chateauneuf du Pape, Pinot Noir, Beaujolais or French Syrah. #PipsTips
Pip's Tips No5: Christmas! The ideal wine to go with a roast turkey dinner is a Chablis or a Chateauneuf du Pape. If your budget doesn't stretch to these, try another oaked Chardonnay, such as a Macon-Villages, or, for a red, a Pinot Noir, Beaujolais or French Syrah. #PipsTips
Pip's Tips No4: The reason why wine shops are cold and dark is not to match the personality of the staff, but because heat and light can damage a wine's taste. At home, if you can, try and store wine somewhere dark and at a constant, cool temperature. #PipsTips

Pip’s Tips No 3:
The ideal temperature for drinking red wine is around 18C (think pre-central heating room temperature). Some people prefer to drink lighter reds cooler – around 14C for a Beaujolais or Pinot Noir. As always, it all comes down to personal taste. #PipsTips
Pip's Tips no2:
Let a still white wine warm up slightly before drinking. The ideal temperature is 11C. This might seem a little odd if you're used to drinking white wine straight from the fridge, but this will bring out more of the flavour and will give a bigger, fuller taste.
Pip'sTips no1: Decanting a medium-to-heavy red wine will improve its flavour. Just pour the wine into a decanter (or Pyrex jug, cafetiere, etc) and leave for an hour or so before drinking. #pipstips
