@daniellog It didn’t unfortunately! It was rubbish! It was supposed to be completely hardy, but the leaves started to grow in spring and the slightest frost blackened them. It survived the first year but killed off by the second. I bought another one and the same thing happened!

First job of the day done 😀. Put up a reclaimed trellis and put a Kiwi Issai plant in. Looking forward to seeing how this goes; it apparently produces hundreds of small, smooth kiwi fruits and will survive the harshest of British winters!

@nowthenthee @nysuri If you get a plot, drop me a message and you can have some canes if you like. I’m in Lymm. They pop up everywhere and I’m constantly pulling them out and potting them up to pass on!

@rothwel I chop them down any time after fruiting has finished. Sometimes in November; sometimes I don’t get round to it until spring! They’re autumn fruiting so they’re so much easier than the summer ones.

@swansoam I think I’m going to chop the fallen half of the tree off once I’ve harvested the apples in a couple of weeks. Just hope the wound heals enough to support the other half. I’m going to stake it again before winter and hope for the best 🤞

Popped down to the plot earlier and was gutted to find half of my apple tree snapped off, with rot in the trunk. Not sure if the remaining side is going to pull through. Should I treat the wound with something or wrap it up to stop further infection? Any tips appreciated 🍎👍

The local village produce show today. Surprised and very happy with the result! All grown on the allotment. First time I’ve entered one and think it could be the start of an addiction to fruit and veg shows!! Really enjoyed it! #allotment #flowers #raspberries
