Today, the House passed the year-end omnibus legislative package that included the #LymphedemaTreatmentAct, which means our bill has officially been passed by Congress! @POTUS is expected to sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk, then the LTA will officially become law!!๐
For this breast cancer awareness month , I am thinking of people with breast cancer that need compression. Compression effectiveness and fit matter. Make sure you get it right.

For 2 out of 5 Breast Cancer Survivors, Life-Long Lymphedema Follows
Breast Cancer Awareness Month should also shine a light on survivorship issues.@LymphedemaAct
For cancers requiring surgery and lymph node removal , a pre -op evaluation of strength, range of motion and limb size could be a resource to inform you of early onset lymphedema . Request an evaluation from a CLT today .@LANA_lymphology
Do you have a survivorship care plan? It should start with your PCP coordinating your appts with your cancer docs. It could include frequency of check ups, tests, referrals needed , nutrition plan and health promotion.

So we started a 6 month follow up for our lymphedema patients post discharge . This helps to check their garments , order new ones and prevent exacerbation . What are your follow up protocols at your clinic ?
Just like people with diabetes may need insulin and people with hypertension may need thiazide diuretics, people with lymphedema need compression garments and sometimes compression pumps. It really should not be this difficult , pass the @LymphedemaAct. @MedicareGov
What makes my work as a provider frustrating??My Medicare age patients not having the appropriate compression garments to transition to or being denied access to pneumatic compression pumps . Lymphedema is a chronic disease that requires follow through for successful management.
A patient of mine plans on taking breast ca medication back home to Africa for a family friend that also has breast ca.
Me: what kind of breast cancer do they have ?
P: no idea, I thought they were all the same . @AmericanCancer@SusanGKomen
Lymphedema therapists, do you always check for arterial insufficiency before you compress your lymphedema patients? #ruborofdependency#semmesweinstein#abi
