Terrorists aim to divide us.
So far they would be happy with what they have achieved.
Media frenzy, Australians blaming each other, demonising Muslim immigrants, political opportunism.
We can’t let them win.
Stand together, work together, support each other.
Unity
Decent Kiwis didn’t blame the Ardern government when an Australian terrorist killed 52 Muslims and wounded many more. Instead they rallied around a Prime Minister seeking to unite not divide New Zealanders, and their Parliament overwhelmingly supported tougher gun laws.
Not reading the NewsCorpse rags this morning - I never do - but I imagine today they’re up to their usual sleazy business of spreading fear and loathing, of hatred and division.
Albo haters (50% of Aussies) are enjoying happy days blaming him for #bondiattack. They couldn't care less for devastated families. It's just a wonderful opportunity for them to hit @AlboMP hard & try to destroy him. They will be very sad when tragedy fades from headlines.
In 1996, following the Port Arthur massacre
Labor gave John Howard bipartisan support for gun law reform and worked with him on the details
In 2025, faced with the need to update those laws again
@sussanley can't even offer support for 3 fellow LNP Leaders
"News has emerged that three senior Coalition MPs charged taxpayers nearly $10,000 for travel and accommodation while attending a Liberal party fundraiser in Sydney" 🤑💸 #auspol

The politicising of the Bondi atrocity is disgusting. But predictable. Whipped along by the Murdochracy, every RWFW in the country is leaping on the bandwagon. Howard, Lord Downer, Abbott…the whole wretched crew. With no constructive proposals…just bile.
Doctors. Nurses. Surgeons. Radiologists. Pathologists. And so many more.
We’ve seen humanity at its very best, as you've worked tirelessly to save lives.
We can't thank you enough.
Who is dividing the country right now? The Pauline Hansons, the SkyAfterDark’s, the tabloids, the Liberal Party, the shock jocks on talkback. They’re doing this to score political points. During a tragic time. When politics should be put aside. It’s putrid. And it’s un Australian
Ahmed, you are an Australian hero.
You put yourself at risk to save others, running towards danger on Bondi Beach and disarming a terrorist.
In the worst of times, we see the best of Australians. And that's exactly what we saw on Sunday night.
On behalf of every Australian, I say thank you.
While the Lindt Cafe siege was still underway Bill Shorten pledged Labor's full support to the Abbott Govt, saying, "The Prime Minister and I are partners when it comes to keeping Australians safe".
He put the country first.
It's to their absolute shame the Liberals can't .
@SharriMarkson@JoshFrydenberg A failed Treasurer who gave us a Trillion dollars of Liberal Debt. His government let in the Bondi terrorists and gave them their guns after they helped create ISIS by illegally invading Iraq. Josh should apologise to his people. He failed them.
An Opposition Leader of any decency, with the future of the nation at heart, would extend a hand to the government and say: in the interest of national unity, how can we work through this together? How can we help ? But no. The whole rotten crew are flat out point scoring.
