Today is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Social workers fight for the inherent dignity and value of all.

Too many are robbed of their dignity by poverty — unsafe working conditions, lack of access to housing and limited health care access. #Together2EndPoverty

The Ontario government's process for choosing protected Greenbelt land to open up for housing development was heavily influenced by a small group of well-connected developers with access to the housing minister’s chief of staff, the auditor general says. https://t.co/A8JB9Oxg9z

As social workers, we're used to caring for others and our communities but looking after ourselves is just as important.

Self-care looks different for everyone.
📚 Read a book?
🍎 Eat a healthy snack?
🧹 Clean?
💆🏽 Relax and unwind?

Whatever it looks like, treat yourself!

2018: "We are not touching the Greenbelt. We will protect it and all its beauty."

2023: The Greenbelt is "an empty field with weeds in it."

What changed, @fordnation? 💸

@birgitomo Not weird. Very normal. You need time to heal.

Now this is the Justin Trudeau that I like. Holy crap! Somebody pissed him off. Way to go PM Trudeau.

[Lynda Stockwell @LyndaStockwell]

@thesandrashamas I was just thinking the same thing! So annoying!

The swamp witch makes it clear in a follow-up comment that what you feed it changes what your monster develops into. So I wholeheartedly support this, and feeding your monster love, patience and grace.

@BowersWrites Welcome to Canada! May you make many happy memories here!

The President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada said the CBC will still provide Canadians with traditional radio and television broadcasts delaying its move to digital-only service until adequate high-speed Internet is available to all Canadians. https://t.co/TVUqYAsjfe

Public hospitals across Ontario have operating rooms running under capacity, closing by 3pm, or closing for days-to-weeks at a time. Why is Doug Ford’s solution to this funding for-profit private services to clear the backlog? Why not fund and expand the public ones? #onpoli

[Dr. Amit Arya @AmitAryaMD]

Who else agrees that a single day sponsored by a corporation…is not a substitute for the free & equitable access to #mentalhealth care services that our governments should be providing for us every day? ✋🏽

[OASW @ON_SocialWork]

As we engage in conversations about #MentalHealth today, remember your mental health matters. Ontario's #SocialWorkers are here for you.

Anyone who's lost a loved one would give anything to be able to hear their voice again, and while a new wind phone in Deer Lake won't enable them to have a two-way conversation, it is helping to bring comfort to grieving people. https://t.co/vIY618F2Af
