My mom once asked me why I can be cold towards my pts in the ER. And last night was the perfect example. Myself and a team did CPR for one hour on a pt then I spent 2 hours stabilizing them alone. Walk out of the room to finally chart and a pt is mad bc they aren’t admitted yet

Or any other healthcare worker. 3 years later and I physically just don’t understand.. I wish I could bring all my pts and let them sit outside of a room and have them watch me work with a critical pt. But they still just wouldn’t get it

Mom. That’s why I can be cold about my pts. Bc I just literally saved a life, then immediately get mistreated and threatened by other pts.
Some days I don’t know how nurses physically do it anymore.
