@DevonBirder He was just a very self-effacing character. He also hid behind the Mrs Trellis pseudonym as a bit of a joke, knowing that it would keep people guessing. In many ways he was an enigma. He quietly enjoyed the fact that people weren't quite sure what to make of him.

Received the sad news today that Steve Hale (aka Mrs Trellis) passed away last night. Steve was devoted to his patch, Northwich Wharf, before moving away some years ago. He delighted in telling people how bad it was!
