Hopeful that Toronto will make the progressive choice to support Gil Penalosa, who finished 2nd in the initial mayoral race, in the upcoming by-election to replace Tory. ππ»

It's no secret that John Tory and I had many political disagreements. Tonight I fully agree that he should resign. His is not a simple, one-time lapse of judgement. Tory was her boss and this is an abuse of power.
@DrLeslea@cpso_ca That is completely ridiculous, stigmatizing, and discriminatory. So sorry this happened to you. Why can't the medical profession provide the same non-judgmental compassion and treatment to its own with mental illnesses as it expects us to do with our patients? Baffling & tragic.
@AAMorra13 Eek! You made it. Very proud of you! Also, the imposter syndrome is still strong with me 8 mths into residency haha. My line is, My name is Dr. Gott, first name is Lyndsey, you can call me either one" π
@ZoeSYLau Was fun. We all read Where the Crawdads Sing as well (which I recommend) so we could do another book club on that! Love the idea of doing w co-residents. I know PARO has one for the new year, but the book choice was too real for me! π Happy holidays & well wishes to you too!
@ZoeSYLau Ooo yes I read and enjoyed that a little while ago. Did a three person book club with my mom and sister in law! π€ I just started The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. Author of the Invention of Wings and The Secret Life of Bees, which I quite liked π
@AAMorra13 Congrats 2021s! Has been a very tough year for you guys and I feel for you. Best wishes with applications and interview prep. Hope you're able to catch your breath over the holidays. You know how to get in touch with your fellow QMeds if you need some guidance or support! π
@HeatherM211 Jacinda Arden is ππ». Notably, countries led by women fared better in the pandemic than the majority led by men... just saying π https://t.co/u8zMQhfj6U
@GenCounsNews @MaggieHulbert Was old data, 2015, but fear that things may not be much better these days π. Would be happy to be proven wrong by anyone though!
@GenCounsNews @MaggieHulbert Avg wait times to see a psychiatrist were the longest out of all specialty referrals from family medicine. And some had to wait 300 days! That's far too many days spent suffering, disabled, feeling hopeless, perhaps out of work or socially isolated for people with mental illness.
@GenCounsNews @MaggieHulbert Completely right, Leslie. At my personal FHT they are limited to 6-8 sessions usually, which is a VERY short amt of time to establish rapport and provide treatment, let alone see improvement and monitor. Would love to see psychologists and others funded as you said!
@MaggieHulbert I'm biased, but I think all Drs (not just psych residents, but all Drs seeing pts in emerg) should be able to identify a few helpful therapy modalities and know some community resources (if any, often there's none as you said). Wish we had more training on therapy in med school!
